Tall Poppy Syndrome: Navigating the Energetics of Success
In societies across the globe, the phenomenon of “tall poppies” frequently rears its head, manifesting as a cultural, social, collective and psychological dynamic that affects individuals who achieve notable success or recognition. Stemming from the ancient parable where the tallest poppies in a field are cut down to size, the term “tall poppy syndrome” encapsulates the tendency to criticize, resent, or seek to diminish those who have risen above their peers or family members often through achievements, talent, or success.
A fun fact is that my mother (Louise) is a brilliant caricaturist. Her work has been featured in newspapers and magazine and she even won the 1994 Australian gift award for creating something called Tall Poppy Targets. It was a dartboard calendar that featured pretty crude caricatures of famous people. The calendar came with a dart (this feels pretty obscure as I’m sharing this 😂) and the calendar images were the dartboard with a cork backing.
This novelty product was a wild hit because the consumers could unleash their envy, judgement, and assumptions.
Psychological Underpinnings & Energetic ConsequencesHistorically, the concept of tall poppies can be traced back to ancient civilizations, such as Rome, where (apparently) the last king of Rome, suggested controlling potential threats by metaphorically “cutting off the heads of the tallest poppies.” This allegory has since permeated various cultures, each adapting the notion to reflect its unique societal values and norms. In contemporary times, Tall Poppy Syndrome is most prominently observed in countries like Australia (where I grew up), New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, where societal ethos often emphasizes humility, egalitarianism, and the collective over individual achievement. This has merits of course, but on an energetic level it screams suppression of sovereignty.
At its core, the tall poppy syndrome is deeply rooted in human psychology and bitchiness in general. It intersects with feelings of envy, insecurity, and a sense of fairness.
Psychologists argue that witnessing another’s success can trigger a comparative reflex, leading individuals to measure their own achievements against those of others. This comparison can foster feelings of inadequacy or jealousy, prompting actions aimed at “leveling the playing field.”
However, from a metaphysical standpoint one could argue that if you are unable to support and celebrate the success of others then you are keeping that energy from manifesting into your own life. You attract what you focus on.
If you can feel genuine happiness and success for someone else then you literally crack the code to unlocking new layers of success in your own life.The simple and oh-so-harsh truth is that society today is no founded on energetic awareness. Instead, it prompts division instead of unity. This divisive energy is super sneaky and can corrode your innate powers to create with intention.
By understanding its roots and manifestations, we can better navigate the delicate balance between celebrating success and maintaining collective harmony.

The Magic Outside Of Your Comfort Zone
As I’m jotting down these notes in my phone, I’m currently sitting in the car on Main Street in Sag Harbor, New York. My husband Sean just ran into the cafe to pick me up a hot chai latte.
It’s very cold today, about 22 or 23 degrees outside (that’s minus 8ish for my celsius friends), so it’s below freezing but still exquisitely beautiful here. I’m observing people walking on the street, clearly uncomfortable in the cold. And yet, there are smiles on people’s faces as they go from shop to shop chatting with friends and acclimatized to the temperature.
This got me thinking about how we often resist stepping outside of our comfort zones, and the rewards that can come from doing so.
I’ve seen this happen in my own life over the years.
When I left a 10-year toxic marriage with nothing but two suitcases, two children and over $30,000 worth of debt. Five years later I had my first million dollar year.When we moved from Australia to America in 2015 with three children, three dogs, a few boxes and a large screen TV. In 2018, I manifested a New York literary agents and a quarter of a million dollar book deal.When I recently postponed a webinar (despite so many people signing up) because the timing didn’t feel in alignment (yet). You can read the post here. Cancelling an event was definitely outside of my comfort zone, but my intuition was asking me to listen. I’m waiting to see what’s on the other side of this one.When I said yes to learning the art of public speaking despite always feeling too shy/nervous to speak in public. This last one was the most terrifying by the way but I definitely overcame my fear when 80 Million people watched my Goalcast video. On the other side of this fear was confidence.However, this illustrates my next point…The Universe responds to our bravery and willingness to push ourselves.When we are willing to do the work and step outside of our comfort zone, magic can happen.
So back to Sag Habor, as I watch people hurrying along the sidewalk, huddled in their coats and scarves, I can’t help but think about how often we resist discomfort in our lives. We tend to stick to what we know, what feels safe and familiar. But what if we embraced discomfort instead of shying away from it?
Stepping outside of our comfort zones can lead to incredible growth and opportunities.
It can open doors we never knew existed and lead us to experiences we never thought possible. When we push ourselves to try new things, take risks, and face our fears, we often find that the rewards far outweigh the initial discomfort.
Think about the last time you stepped outside of your comfort zone. Maybe it was trying a new hobby, speaking up in a meeting, or taking a leap of faith in your personal life. Whatever it was, I’m sure you can recall the sense of accomplishment and empowerment that came from pushing yourself beyond your limits.
The truth is, magic happens when we are willing to do the work and embrace discomfort.
It’s in those moments of uncertainty and fear that we discover our true potential and strength. The Universe responds to our bravery and determination, and rewards us in ways we never could have imagined.
So, the next time you find yourself hesitating to step outside of your comfort zone, remember that the magic happens when we push ourselves beyond what feels safe and familiar. Embrace discomfort, take risks, and watch as the Universe responds with endless possibilities.

Setting Energetic Boundaries
Recently, I’ve been given the opportunity to set some new boundaries in my business and personal life, so I’ve been thinking a lot about how this experience can inspire my readers here.
In each and every moment we have a choice of how we react and respond to people and certain situations. And when your spirit and patience is tested (sometimes to the limit), then it’s time to draw a deep line in the sand with a note saying: do not cross.
It could be with a toxic ex, a weird friend, a flighty work colleague, a disrespectful family member and here’s what I want to remind you of: you get to set the boundaries in your life that help you to feel cool, calm and collected.
As we navigate through life, it’s crucial to consider what we are willing to tolerate in our lives. From an energetic standpoint, this is essential for our emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. As sovereign beings, it’s important to set boundaries that protect us on all levels and to maintain those boundaries like an impenetrable fortress.
When our boundaries are crossed, it’s important to respond in a way that is loving and respectful to all parties involved. This doesn’t mean we have to tolerate behavior that is harmful or detrimental to us. It means that we can assert our boundaries in a way that is firm yet compassionate.
Take some time to examine what you are currently tolerating in your life.
Are there situations, relationships, or behaviors that are draining your energy and not serving your highest good? Use this awareness to guide your energy towards what you truly want to manifest in your life.
By setting and maintaining healthy boundaries, we create a space for positive energy to flow into our lives. This allows us to focus on what truly matters to us and to cultivate the life we desire. It’s not always easy, but it’s a necessary part of our personal growth and well-being.
Remember, you have the power to create the life you want. By being mindful of what you tolerate and setting boundaries that honor your worth, you can manifest a life that is aligned with your true desires. So, take the time to reflect on what you are willing to tolerate and use that awareness to guide your energy towards creating the life you truly want.

Opening Your Energy Field To Manifest More
Many people believe that the key to manifesting their desires lies in opening up their energy field. But what exactly does that mean, and how can you do it?
Our energy field, also known as our aura, is the electromagnetic field that surrounds us and contains our energy. When we have blockages (such as a blocked throat chakra for instance) or restrictions in our energy field, it can hinder our ability to manifest our desires.
It’s really important to note that one of the fastest ways to manifest more of what you desire is to examine what you are actively offering to the field of infinite potential (the Universe.)
Here are some steps to open up your energy field, and offer a different vibration the field of infinite potential and enhance your ability to manifest:
PODCAST
Practice mindfulness and awareness:Start by becoming more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Mindfulness meditation can be a helpful tool for developing this awareness. By noticing and acknowledging any negative thoughts or emotions, you can begin to release them and create space for positive energy to flow. All it takes is a few minutes of stillness a day to create a powerful change.
Clear blockages:Use energy healing techniques, such as Reiki, acupuncture (which I love), or breath-work, to clear any blockages or restrictions in your energy field. This can help to release any stuck energy and increase the flow of positive energy.
Note: don’t get too “heady” about this as believe that you’re full of blockages. Remember, tiny tweaks make the most amount of difference so this isn’t an opportunity to feel like there is something wrong or broken about you. There isn’t.
Set intentions:Be clear and specific about what you want to manifest. Write down your intentions and visualize them as already achieved. This helps to align your energy field with your desires and create a magnetic force for their manifestation. I’ve been teaching my kids a lot about the law of attraction recently and how important it is to get clear about what you want. The more specific you can be with your intentions and what you want to draw into your reality, the better.

Trust the process:Finally, trust that the universe is working in your favor and that your desires are on their way to manifesting. Let go of any attachment to the outcome and allow things to unfold naturally.

The throat chakra, located in the neck area, is the fifth of the seven chakras and is associated with communication, self-expression, and creativity. When the throat chakra is balanced and open, we can communicate our thoughts and feelings clearly and effectively. However, when it is blocked, we may experience difficulty in expressing ourselves and feel a sense of stagnation in our lives.

I remember when I first went through an intense round of training to become a public speaker and the instructor (an incredible mentor) pointed out that what I thought was using my voice loudly and effectively was actually quite weak (energetically). These activities can also be therapeutic and help you release any pent-up emotions or feelings.
Speak Your TruthSpeaking your truth means expressing yourself honestly and authentically, even if it may be uncomfortable or challenging. It is important to remember that speaking your truth is not about being right or wrong, but about being true to yourself and your values. When you speak your truth, you create an authentic connection with others and feel a sense of freedom and empowerment.
Practice Mindfulness MeditationMindfulness meditation is a powerful tool to help you connect with your throat chakra and unlock its hidden magic. Find a quiet space and take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath. Visualize a blue light filling your throat area and imagine it expanding and growing stronger with each breath. How Your Intuition Can Supercharge Your Manifestation Efforts

Have you ever had a gut feeling that turned out to be right? That’s your intuition at work. It’s that inner voice that speaks to you when you’re making decisions or facing challenges in life. However, many of us tend to ignore our intuition or second-guess ourselves, especially when it comes to making important decisions.
It’s also important to note that intuition and instinct are two separate things. You initial gut reaction to something is an instinct – but your intuition is often driven by your projection of feelings based on a visceral knowing.
Many of us feel a touch of “imposter syndrome” when it comes to intuition, but it’s like a muscle…the more you use it, the more it works for you. So it’s time to stop the second-guessing.
But what if I told you that the moment you stop second-guessing your intuition is the moment the Universe amplifies the power of your manifestations? It may sound like a lofty statement, but it’s grounded in the principles of the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction states that we attract into our lives whatever we focus on.When we focus on positive thoughts and feelings, we attract positive experiences and outcomes. On the other hand, when we focus on negative thoughts and feelings, we attract negative experiences and outcomes.
So, how does this relate to our intuition? When we trust our intuition and act on it, we’re sending a powerful signal to the Universe that we’re aligned with our desires and that we’re ready to receive them. By following our intuition, we’re focusing on the positive outcomes we want to manifest, and we’re taking inspired action towards them.
However, when we second-guess our intuition, we’re sending mixed signals to the Universe. We’re telling the Universe that we’re not fully aligned with our desires, and we’re not ready to receive them. This can delay or even block our manifestations from coming into fruition.
Therefore, the moment you stop second-guessing your intuition is the moment you start to amplify the power of your manifestations. Trust that inner voice that speaks to you and take inspired action towards your desires.
The Universe will respond in kind by bringing you more of what you want and need in your life.
