Look for the Holy Moments

Things dont feel very holy right now, do they?

There have been so many moments in time that didnt seem holy while we were living in them. However, we can look back and see God was up to something. We can look back and see that even in the midst of deepest despair, fear, and strife that God was present in our suffering to bring comfort and hope to His people.

A holy moment is experiencing peace, hope, and love in the midst of hardship.

For those old enough to remember September 11, 2001, we...

Recovery Meeting & Prayer Call

As it has been said by so many by now, we are living in unprecedented times. The Covid-19 crisis has impacted all of us and is projected to continue for a while longer. It occurred to me that with social distancing and group gatherings limited to no more than 10, many people in recovery will no longer be able to attend their in-person support group meetings (Celebrate Recovery, SA, AA, etc.). For others, the anxiety, stress, and fear of present circumstances are enough to send them back to...

Love of a Father—Hope for Difficult Father/Daughter Relationships

From as young as the age of 8, I can remember being on a search for love. That may sound kind of odd because why would an 8-year-old be searching for love? But, for me, I was searching for the love of a father. If fatherlessness (physically or emotionally) has impacted your life, perhaps this message about the Father’s unconditional love for you will be an encouragement to you and bring you hope.

The Black & White of Fifty Shades of Grey

As Valentine’s Day approaches, many women will flock to their local theater to see Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to the widely popular film and erotic book series Fifty Shades of Grey. There is a significant irony about linking a holiday about love and romance with a film that glorifies the use of BDSM (bondage, dominance, sadism, masochism) through manipulation and coercion in a relationship.

While the Fifty Shades of Grey series is often categorized as a romance, it actually normalizes a...

Running the Race for Gold

With the Olympics on our televisions every night, there’s been a lot of talk about several athletes breaking records for the number of medals being won by an athlete in a single Olympic games. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps now has 28 medals over the course of four Olympics, of which 23 are gold. 23 gold medals! I read recently that if Michael Phelps were his own country, he would rank 59th as the most decorated country since the first summer Olympics held in 1898.

As for me, I have often...

When Death is Enticing… Choose Life

By Crystal Renaud

I have but a few words add to the already very long dialogue taking place right now after the death of actor Robin Williams. I know not all will agree with me, but this is my truth based on my own experiences. Thanks for stopping by.

When a tragedy like this happens many cry “mental illness!” and “depression!” as a way to try and understand. It is normal for people to scramble for answers to a senseless act. And because no one chooses the path of mental illness and it is a...
