What new Christmas tradition do you hope to start this year? Maybe the upcoming season has prompted you to start something new.

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love decorating for Christmas, listening to and singing Christmas carols, and spending time with family and friends. So when I decided to write a novella, I jumped at the chance to write a sweet Christmas romance set in the fictional town of Winterberry, Colorado.

Forever Yours This Christmas is a story all about community. My heroine collects money every year at her shop, Second Time Around, to donate to cystic fibrosis. My hero betters the community by building much-needed housing. The community also comes together by having a silent auction to raise money for their Christmas events. And, of course, there are other fun touches of Christmas—a tree lighting celebration, ice skating, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies…lots and lots of Christmas cookies!

Here is a short description of Forever Yours This Christmas:

Amy Carrington, a consignment shop owner, tries to save her parking lot from being taken over by Sunshine Builders—CEO Kimberly Harding and her handsome brother, Wes—who are building townhomes right next to her shop in the small fictional town of Winterberry, Colorado. The bigger problem? Falling in love with her rival!

For a chance to win one of three copies (print, e-book or audiobook) of Forever Yours This Christmas (US/Canadian addresses only for print, international for e-book, US or UK for audiobook), tell me what Christmas tradition you enjoy by commenting on this blog.

GREAT NEWS! The e-book of Forever Yours This Christmas is on sale for $.99 cents from July 12-18th! (click on the title to be taken to the link)

Capture Me Prize Package Giveaway

To celebrate the release of Capture Me, I’m giving away a prize package, including a beachy picture frame, a yummy-smelling candle, a decorated mason jar with brownie mix, some postcards (keep one and pass the others to your friends), and a copy of the book.

Here’s a brief description:

Two biological sisters. Two different families.

Will an old photograph prompt a reunion?

When Ashley Stevens discovers a box of photos that remind her of her difficult childhood with cancer, she wants to push that box aside while keeping her promise to her adoptive grandmother to create scrapbooks from the pictures in the trunk. A photo of herself as a young child sitting beside a smaller girl continues to haunt her. Who is she and why does the toddler’s face look so much like her own? Between her job at the animal shelter, waiting on a proposal from and her boyfriend of three years, and his troubled family, will Ashley ever discover who the girl is?

There’s nothing Kayla Witherspoon wants more than to quit medical school. After two grueling years, it is time she tell her parents the truth—that she desires to be a fashion designer, not a doctor like them. Adding to her fear of imperfection, a woman claims Kayla has a biological sister. She’s gotten along fine as an only child. Why would she need a sibling now?

The giveaway is open March 28th-April 4th. US mailing addresses only please. The winner will be announced on my blog on April 5th and will be notified by email. To enter, use the Rafflecopter form below and leave a comment:

I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend with family and friends!

Can you believe it’s September? Time to buy new pencils, notebooks, pens, and all that fun stuff. But before you run off, here’s a little peek at what’s been happening…

Family picture at Mount Hermon where my older daughter worked at Daycamp this summer.

My kids are all grown! Yikes, how did that happen? Our youngest turned 18 in August. This fall, all four “kids” will be home working and/or going to school. Next week (hopefully), my office addition will begin. I need my own space!

Yes, this happened!

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Oregon Christian Writers Conference and won a Cascade Award for my middle grade book, Love, Lexi: Letters to God. This makes me smile because I love Lexi and this fiction/devo was a BLAST to write!

While I was waiting at the airport for my return flight, I gave a signed copy to Olivia, a girl waiting with her family for their return trip to Manchester, England. As they stood to go to their gate, she turned to me and said, “I love it already!” Has the 8-13 year old girl in your life read Love, Lexi: Letters to God? If so, contact me and let me know!

I promised to tell you when the audiobook for Road to Harmony (a historical romance set in Harmony Valley, CA in 1907) is available! You can listen to a sample of Diane Lehman’s voice at the above link or here. Out of all the voices I listened to, Diane’s captured me the most. And guess what? She has different voices for different characters. I love when a narrator does that, don’t you?

I can’t ignore what’s been going on different parts of the country–hurricanes, fires, and social unrest. It’s the perfect time for us to dig into God’s Word and cling to his promises! I’m doing exactly that as I search for 365 verses for the kids’ devotional I’m writing for Zondervan. Here’s one of my favorites:

So do not be afraid. I am with you. Do not be terrified. I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will hold you safe in my hands. I always do what is right. Isaiah 41:10 (NIrV)

Blessings,

Sherry Kyle

Release Day for Road to Harmony and Book Giveaway

Release Day

May 1st, 2017

(Click on the cover to enlarge)

About the book:

Instead of sharing the back cover copy, which you can find here, I thought I’d share a different story …

The story behind the story …

It’s been a number of years since I wrote Road to Harmony. Truth is, this book, a historical romance, is my second novel. I wrote it in between my contemporary novels, Delivered with Love and The Heart Stone, and before Anna and Charles’s romance in Watercolor Dreams.

Here’s what happened…

After learning how much fun writing a novel can be (it’s like giving birth, truly!), I found a publishing company accepting submissions for a new romance line. I researched a bit and discovered the small town of Harmony, California, and thought it was the perfect setting for a romance. My hero and heroine could struggle with finding peace in their lives, and with a town called Harmony, what better place to find love? So I called the editor and shared my idea. (Yes, I did.)

To my surprise, the editor liked it. Except instead of making it a contemporary story like I had envisioned, she suggested I write a historical. What? Me? Write a historical? I’m terrible with geography, just ask my husband, and all those historic details …

But I love a challenge and get pumped when I have a new project to work on. Besides, the historic facts I shared with the editor about the small town did add tension to the story. So off I went to write a historical romance. And I fell in love—with handsome, rugged Jonas, and beautiful, spirited Elena, and this new genre! (Remember, I wrote Watercolor Dreams, another historical romance, after Road to Harmony.)

Why, you may ask, wasn’t the book published before now? All I can say is that’s the way of publishing! (And for the small detail that the romance line closed its doors.) Writers move on to their next project, and I obviously had too, but over the years I had always felt that Road to Harmony should be in print. My agent agreed. With her encouragement I entered the thrilling waters of indie-publishing.

And finally, the time has come!

CELEBRATE!!!

To celebrate the release of Road to Harmony, I’m giving away a signed copy of the book, as well as a $25 Starbucks Gift Card. Please enter the rafflecopter below for a chance to win. (United States residents only). The giveaway is from May 1-8, 2017. The winner will be announced here on my blog on May 9, 2017.
