I'm a Failure!

"Try to see the failure you're going through as a step up an invisible staircase toward a future you in a future life you can't even imagine yet." - Neil Pasricha

Who here has run unsuccessful ads? Anyone?

I've spent my fair share of dollars on campaigns only to be disappointed in the results. I've wanted to quit running them many times.

But I'm in the author game for the long haul. I study my results and expert courses to figure out what's working. Then I start again with new ads.

Learn to see these "failures" as steps to success. You'll get there. If you don't quit.

Start today. Repeat tomorrow.

“‘Good enough’ is generally good enough. But it’s important to remember that *the option exists.* If you wish to become significantly better at something, you can.” - Anders Ericsson

We're creatures of habit, and sometimes we walk through life dead center in our comfort zone.

My cooking is good enough for my family, they eat it.
My health is good enough, I don't have any problems.
My writing is good enough to publish.

But I don't want to just get by. I want to thrive and grow and feel passionate about each day. I want to do better than yesterday, not repeat it for another 50 years.

I know you've thought "that's good enough." If you keep telling yourself this, then your life will simply be "good enough." Why not strive for "that's excellent!" or "that is exactly what I wanted and more!"

Stick a toe out of your comfort zone, just one, and find a new way to feel a little more joy.

Stay Mindful

"Our potential is one thing. What we do with it is quite another.” - Angela Duckworth

No matter how much potential you have, it means nothing if you're not willing to put in the work and make something out of it. Have you been holding back lately?

I'll give you an example from my writing career. I've been putting off learning Tiktok for months. I hear tons of authors in the community raving about the engagement and followers, but I'm scared to make videos. Unless I get over my hesitation and self-doubt, I'll never find out how great this platform can be for interacting with readers.

I've added this to my schedule the week of 2/14. If I really hate the videos I don't have to post them, but I need to at least take the first step and try creating a few.

Whatever you've been putting off, find the smallest next step and take it. Or you'll never know. The world needs you.

You can have a 9-5 AND...

We tend to think in terms of black and white. For example, I've been striving to change my nutrition mindset from:

"if I eat the cookie my diet is ruined" to "I enjoyed the cookie and will start fresh tomorrow."

The same goes for those who want a side hustle or to build a business to replace their full-time income. You can do and have both at the same time.

What's one small step you can take today to start or support your passion project? Eat the elephant one bite at a time.

Stop Being Patient

What is it that you want?

What you REALLY want?

And what are you willing to do to get it? How badly do you want it and what are you willing to sacrifice?

If you aren't thinking big, you're selling yourself short. The visionaries of the world like Elon Musk are blowing people's minds with space missions and sustainable technology.

The only difference between them and you is the size of your thinking. For me, I've up leveled my book sales goal from 1000 per month to 10,000 per month by the end of the year. I'm setting my mind's expectations to match my passion.

Why would you accept that you won’t fully achieve your goals for years? Why not change that mindset and achieve those goals within the next few months? There’s no set timeline for success!

What's the First Thing You'd Do if You Won the Lottery?

I know, I know, hiring a financial planner sounds boring. But you build wealth by using your money to make more money.

The truth is, we’re all capable of wild success when we follow our passion. We don’t need a winning lotto ticket to achieve our dreams.

Focus on taking small daily steps. My motto is: discipline, commitment, persistence

For me, that looks like writing stories, networking on social media, and studying my craft. Putting out books is a big risk. I’ve had some success and some, let’s just say, stinkers.

But unless I keep writing I won’t achieve my goals. Am I risking my time and money? Absolutely.

Are you risking anything right now? You can’t have massive rewards without at least a little risk. At the very least you can say you gave it your all instead of wondering what might have happened.

Take the risk!

Chase the Vision, Not the Money

Quote by Tony Heish, R.I.P.

Are you motivated by money? Money isn’t a bad thing to drive you, but your passion and the vision of your life should give you much more push than money.

Knowing your WHY is the jet fuel to skyrocket your dreams. I chose to become a romance author because I love writing.

My WHY is about helping women escape into fantasy, if even for an hour, and leave their worries behind. When I lost my mom, reading and writing helped me work through the grief.

Ask yourself what motivates you, besides money, to do what you do. Passion is the spark that brings our goals into reality.

Pugs & Kisses,

Pandora

P.S. Comment below what motivates you!

That's Impossible!

“For Every Reason It’s Not Possible, There Are Hundreds Of People Who Have Faced The Same Circumstances And Succeeded.” - Jack Canfield

If you want to talk to a guy that knows about failure, Jack Canfield's your man.  He couldn't sell his book idea, Chicken Soup for the Soul, rejected by 144 publishers.

But he didn't quit, casually amassing over 500 million books sold at recent count. He looks like an overnight success, but the long hours and defeating no's he heard tell the truth. Success is achieved by small daily consistent actions.

Whatever your goal, take a step daily, even when you can't see the road ahead.

It may seem like it's impossible, but countless other people have been in your shoes and made their own success. It is absolutely not impossible and you can prove it.

Stick With It!

“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals; adjust the action steps.” – Confucius

They say all paths lead to Rome. I think that means there are many roads, directions, and methods to achieve a goal, and as long as you don’t quit, you’ll get there.

I don’t know which book I write will bring me bestseller success. The one I love the most may not resonate with readers, and the one I’m not as emotionally attached to may be the big hit.

But what I know for sure is that if I keep improving my craft and publishing stories, the achievement is inevitable.

Be open to changing yourself and your strategies to reach the prize. Don’t bring your goals down to meet your plan. Dial your plan up to meet your goals! Find out why your current plan isn’t working and make it work!
