New Live-Action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Movie in Works
Fans of giant anthropomorphic reptiles, martial arts, and round Italian food will soon rejoice (hopefully). The Hollywood Reporter has reported (in Hollywood) that Paramount is in the process of finding a new producer to head up live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles projects. The producer, Neal H. Moritz, is the man behind Universal’s Fast and Furious franchise and more recently Paramount’s own Sonic the Hedgehog is in talks to jump into the sewers for the TMNT franchise.
New Line
The most recent live-action (well, mixed with CGI) Turtles movie was 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which underperformed at the box office. Since then, the franchise has seen a renaissance of sorts as an animated film and series, Mutant Mayhem, spearheaded by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Moritz’s ties to the Sonic series has me thinking a new live-action version will likely be lighter in tone than the comparatively darker Michael Bay-produced 2010s movies.
This news does come with a bit of disappointment as well. The decision from the Skydance-owned studio to do a full reboot effectively puts the kibosh on the gestating adaptation of grown-up Turtles comic The Last Ronin. That very dark story follows the last remaining member of the turtles brotherhood in a post-apocalypse as he seeks Shredder’s grandson to seek vengeance for the death of the other three turtles. It’s a super rad book, but also definitely not for kids. The movie would have been R-rated.
IDW PublishingNickelodeon has owned the rights to the property since 2009, and Paramount owns Nickelodeon. So all parties clearly see the value of a young audience. While the franchise has always ping-ponged between gritty and family friendly. The original ’80s comic was a violent satire of Marvel Comics but turned to a toy behemoth when Playmates obtained the rights and made the most popular cartoon of the era. Paramount clearly wants a four-quadrant hit rather than a violent adult action movie.
The sequel to Mutant Mayhem, directed by Jeff Rowe, is still set for a Sept. 17, 2027 release.

Copy of SUPERMAN #1 Sold for $9 Million
This has been a great year for the red cape and the S. Superman is the highest grossing superhero film of the year, was beloved by critics and fans alike, and already has an anticipated sequel in the works. This love for the Last Son of Krypton may have helped bolster a recent auction for a piece of history. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a copy of 1939’s Superman #1 in incredibly good condition fetched a staggering $9.1 million. That’s not even the character’s first appearance! Superman famously first appeared in Action Comics #1 from 1938, a copy of which sold only last year for $6 million.
DC Comics
Why would a single copy of a particular old comic fetch such a hefty sum, over $3 million more than last year’s record-setting purchase? Well one reason might be the incredible shape the comic is in. It’s nearly 90 years old but the Certified Guaranty Company, the leading third-party grading service for comic books, graded it a 9.0 out of 10. It also might have something to do with where the book came from. Three brothers found it in their mother’s attic in a box of old newspaper clippings.
According to THR, “their mother bought the comic, along with several others, when she was nine and living in Depression-era San Francisco. Over the years, the mother occasionally insisted to her sons that she had ‘rare comics somewhere.’ But she could never remember where, and the boys assumed it was just a family legend. The mother died just before the pandemic, and the house sat untouched until the brothers were ready to go through it earlier this year.”
Stories like that add to the legend of a particular piece of history. I wonder if the same book would have garnered that high a price had it just been in a private collection for 50 years. So make sure you really sort through your relatives’ boxes, people. You never know what treasures you might find.

Is Sam Reigel’s Wick Halovar a God in CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4?
Sam Reigel’s character has caught our interest from the first moment he stepped onto the scene in Critical Role Campaign 4. For one thing, the stats of one Wicandar Halovar just did not seem to align with his Cleric class. Many pondered whether Wicandar was really a Sorcerer in disguise. And while we still haven’t seen any concrete evidence of this. Critical Role Campaign 4 episode six seems to somewhat imply that Wick is a god. And given that Critical Role Campaign 4 is VERY interested in the idea of gods, I mean, hey, it’s possible. There’s still a lot we don’t know about gods in Aramán, so who is to say that Wicandar “Wick” Halovar isn’t one? We already know that he has SOME divinity in him, at the very least.
Wick Halovar Is Technically Created From the Blood of a Celestial, an Almost God
Critical Role/Loren HontanillaEarlier in Critical Role Campaign 4, we learned that Wicandar Halovar technically does not come fully from flesh and blood. Wick’s father was created when his grandmother, Photarch Yanessa Halovar, used the blood of a Celestial, a former servant of Tansul, the sun god, as a component in a Wish spell that resulted in the birth of Wick’s father. As such, Wick’s father, Godard Halovar, is a half-angel with a full set of wings and eyes that emit beams of pure light. And that makes Sam Reigel’s Wicandar Halovar at least partially divine/god-like in Critical Role Campaign 4.
We can’t speak to Wick’s mother, Iris, and her connections to divinity beyond noting that she is a woman of strong belief in the light. In Critical Role Campaign 4 episode six, Wick recalls his mother telling him, “You don’t have to meet darkness with darkness. What you beam, you become. And you’re my little beam.” It is worth noting that Iris is the goddess of rainbows in Greek mythology, and Critical Role loves to hide an Easter egg in a name.
House Halovar’s Candascent Creed Is False, But Wick’s Belief in the Light Is RealHouse Halovar fought on behalf of the gods during the Shapers’ War, they are known as a “Priestly House.” But after the death of the gods in Aramán, House Halovar created a religion called the Candescent Creed. Instead of bringing a god back into the mix overtly, which was forboden, House Halovar claimed that the Candescent Creed worshipped the light in Critical Role Campaign 4. Of course, as many religions do, this religion was mostly a cover to build support, wealth, and power for their House. But not everyone in House Halovar saw the concept as false.

Who Is Part of the Soldiers’ Table in CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4?Wicandar Halovar is a true believer in the light, the hope, and the goodness it brings. In Critical Role Campaign 4 episode six, Sam Reigel’s successful religion check helps to see if Wick’s religion can do something other than what it was created for; it helps him to understand something new about the religion that is very momentous… That although there are many lies in the Candescent Creed its message is right. Light can guide to goodness. And as Wick understands this, Brennan Lee Mulligan says something very interesting: “The god of the sun was killed 70 years ago, but the sun still shines. Forms break, titles change, but truth remains forever. ” It does sort of seem to imply there is still a place for a god of light to exist or to form anew in Critical Role Campaign 4, and perhaps that god is Wicandar.
And, indeed, as Wicandar comes to understand these truths about his religion and his light, he transforms into something very much like a god. Rising off the ground, light and luminous wings burst out of him, and all around him the plants of the forest grow, berries ripening, flowers blooming, the power of fairies grows. Radiance fills everything—the radiance of Wick Halovar’s divinity and the sun itself.
The Fairies of Hawthorne’s Glade Call Wick a God
Jiménez VillalbaIn fact, the fairies and other fae creatures of Hawthorne’s Grove immediately bow to Wick, outright calling him a god in Critical Role Campaign 4. And although the light fades down from Wick, and he does not appear to seem or feel any different, it does feel like the fae might know a god when they see one.
What Does It Mean to Be a God in Critical Role Campaign 4?Of course, this all begs the question: What does it mean to be a god in Critical Role Campaign 4? We don’t know too much about the gods of Aramán because, of course, they were all killed before the campaign started. We’ll have to wait and learn what qualifications are needed to be labeled as a proper god in this campaign.
Is Wicandar Halovar a God on Critical Role Campaign 4?So, is Wick Halovar a god? It kind of seems like he might have just become the first new god to be born in Aramán since the death of all the other gods in the Shapers’ War. Indeed, as his mom told Wick, when he beams he becomes. Well, Wick beamed light and it seemed like he became… a god in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Is that fortune or misfortune for him, though? We don’t yet know. But it certainly could make for a good story.
More About Critical Role Campaign 4Critical Role Campaign 4 premieres Thursdays at 7 pm PT on Beacon.tv and is streamed to Critical Role’s YouTube and Twitch channels at that time, with the VOD available for everyone the following Monday at 12 pm PT and podcast episodes available in two parts: the first one week after the premiere, and the second on the following Tuesday.

STRANGER THINGS 5 Releases Eleven Training Montage Video
I feel not unlike Gloria Stuart in Titanic when it comes to waiting for the final season of Stranger Things. It’s been 84 years. The first episodes of the final season will drop on Thanksgiving, as we know, but we want some indication the characters in Hawkins, IN haven’t been resting on their laurels since the last season. Do they have any kind of training regimen ahead of their inevitable showdown with Vecna and the forces of the Upside Down? Well, Eleven definitely does, as this brief clip from Stranger Things 5
In the clip, we see Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) sporting what looks more like a Willie Nelson costume than workout apparel. She jumps, clips, and flips over old cars and other junkyard…junk while zapping pumpkins with her powers. It’s the kind of pre-American Ninja Warrior obstacle course we always dreamed about. The course ends with her superhero jumping over a school bus and rolling to a stop. Hopper and Joyce are there to tell her she broke her own record, which isn’t enough for her. “Reset it,” she says.

Who Will (or Won’t) Survive STRANGER THINGS 5? Here’s Our PredictionsIt’s funny that Eleven has never seemingly needed that level of physicality for any of the other myriad fights against monsters she’s had. I also don’t think her ability to walk on a plank of wood has much to do with whether her psychic knives can blow something up. (That’s the focused totality of her telekinetic powers, don’t ya know.) But it’s good to see the heroes taking everything seriously heading into the final fight against ol’ vine face.
NetflixStranger Things 5 has officially set a three-part 2025 release schedule. The release dates for Stranger Things 5‘s three volumes are as follows:
Stranger Things 5, Volume 1 releases on November 26This includes episodes one through four.Stranger Things 5, Volume 2 releases on Christmas (December 25)This includes episodes five through seven.Stranger Things 5, Volume 3 releases on New Year’s Eve (December 31)This is the finale episode, or episode eight. Each part of Stranger Things 5 releases at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET.

Could This Be THE MIGHTY NEIN’s Best Easter Egg So Far?
Listen, we absolutely love Prime Video’s animated adaptations of Critical Role. Animation brilliantly allows the worlds of Vox Machina and The Mighty Nein to come to life in their full and fantastical splendor. And as a bonus, we still have all our favorite Critical Role voice actors at the table, bringing to life all their player characters. BUT, we must say, one thing we do miss is actually seeing our favorite party in the flesh. Critical Role‘s actors are so talented, their animated facial expressions, hand gestures, and body language have made us FEEL like we’ve been watching way more than just people sitting at a table for all this time. And that’s where The Mighty Nein‘s best Easter egg comes in. During The Mighty Nein episode three, “The Fletching & Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities,” we get a fun nod to the actors behind ALL of the magic, and see Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey in the animated world they created.
Prime Video
At the Fletching & Moondrop Carnival, we get all sorts of fun Critical Role teases. For instance, if you listen closely, you hear Mollymauk Tealeaf, Taliesin Jaffe’s The Mighty Nein character, make a reference to Taliesin Jaffe’s The Legend of Vox Machina character Percy DeRolo — “everything will be as dandy as a DeRolo.” We also see Jester manifesting her signature spiritual weapon—a giant lollipop—after using something similar to play the carnival game; and a cameo by Kiri the aarakocra child—the little bird person) But our favorite The Mighty Nein Easter egg of them all comes when Fjord and Jester walk through a Hall of Mirrors that shows them different versions of themselves. And, though blink and you’ll miss it, one of the visions is an animated version of Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey. What a fun nod to the actors who play them.
As loyal Critters, we’re currently watching Critical Role Campaign 4, which means we get to see the OG Critical Role actors + a whole slew of talented newcomers to the world of the core campaign. And even though we hear those familiar voices while watching The Mighty Nein, we can’t help but miss the faces with the sounds. Seeing Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey “as themselves,” not necessarily just as characters shaped of them, is a ton of fun. We love the meta-nature of this The Mighty Nein Easter egg, which blurs the lines between Jester, Fjord, Travis Willingham, and Laura Bailey. It’s a true manifestation of what Critical Role does so well. It also makes Travis Willingham and Laura Bailey “canon” to the world of The Mighty Nein, which we adore.
Prime VideoWhat if Jester one day met Laura Bailey in a Critical Role animated series? The world might implode. And if Essek met Matt Mercer? Well, none of us are ready for that.
The Mighty Nein is now streaming on Prime Video. Its first three episodes are now available to watch. New episodes release on Wednesdays. We can’t wait to see what The Mighty Nein Easter eggs await us next.

Very exciting stuff! We can’t wait to see what the homebrew brings us.
Critical RoleMarisha Ray, Creative Director, co-founder, and cast member of Critical Role shares of Critical Role‘s system choice for Campaign 4, “When creating the worlds that we build and explore in all of our content at Critical Role, we have always held strong to the belief that we should use the system that best supports the story we want to tell. We are certainly spoiled for choice when it comes to TTRPG systems that the cast knows and loves, so we are very excited to explore more of both Daggerheart and Dungeons and Dragons in our near (and hopefully distant) future.”
Or as Matt Mercer shares in the video above, “Daggerheart or D&D, we say ‘Both!'”

Why CRITICAL ROLE’s Video Game DISPATCH Is a Surprising Yet Smart Move for an Expansive FutureWhat World Will Critical Role Campaign 4 Take Place In?Critical Role Campaign 4 will be leaving Exandria behind and heading to the new world of Aramán in a West Marches-style approach to gameplay. For those unfamiliar, a West Marches approach is one that prioritizes exploration of a world and player-driven narratives. It offers the players much more agency in their gameplay than other approaches to TTRPGs. Brennan Lee Mulligan reveals, “The West Marches campaign style is effectively a shared world with more adventurers that are player characters than can fit at the table in one session. And also, on a storytelling level, it really maps the form of fantasy storytelling that people are intimately familiar with and know and love.”
Critical RoleAs for the world of Aramán, the setting of Critical Role Campaign 4, well, we don’t know too much about it yet, but we feel eager to find out. Mulligan does share with us, “This is a world very much in conversation with Exandria. And so much of that story is about mortals and their relationships with gods and gods and their relationships with mortals. I talked to Matt, I went, ‘What is a relationship to divinity that would be based in the same logic and principals of everything we know and love about Exandria, but where they made a radically different choice. So we see the gods make a decision to put themselves and their role in the cosmos over the well-being of the mortals. And the mortals responded by then banding together themselves. Gods and mortals fight a terrible war, with many mortals staying loyal to the gods in that conflict. But the gods are defeated and killed, oops!”
Critical RoleAnd that leads us to Aramán, 70 years after that revolution and “what we’re dealing with is that magic is wild, chaotic, and unpredictable, it doesn’t work like it used to. The issues of the afterlife, where do the souls of the dead go now that gods do not part the souls to various afterlives?

Roll With CRITICAL ROLE’s Sleek and Stylish Residuum Dice SetMore About AramánCritical Role teases that Aramán is “a world of wonder with sorcery stemming from the graveyard of the gods and carrying forward the spirit of epic sagas reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.” Sounds epic to us.
What Will the Story of Critical Role Campaign 4 Be?Game Master Brennan Lee Mulligan introduces us to the story of Critical Role Campaign 4, sharing, “In the world of Aramán, there exists a growing darkness in the shadow of revolution. 70 years ago were the Shapers cut down, those seven lords of creation that saw fit to cast their children into shadow and ruin forever. Now, a new age, a new conflict arises, and our heroes must rise to the task.”
Critical RoleDetails aside, Mulligan shares that he boiled down his storytelling into five parts: “Swords: conflict, combat, bravery, danger. Family: Deep relationships, the nature of deep bonds of love. Death: Finality. Magic: The fundamental premise of Fantasy that anything is possible. And kissing. That one’s just kissing. People like kissing. And those five brought together create what we want in fantasy storytelling.”
More About Campaign 4‘s Plot SynopsisAdditionally, Critical Role Campaign 4 has officially revealed the following plot synopsis, sharing, “In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined. As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown for themselves?”
And additionally revealing, “Campaign 4 sets the stage for a world on the brink. A hero to many, and enemy to some, when Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate. “

What Else Should We Know About Critical Role Campaign 4‘s Characters? The first thing we learned about the characters of Critical Role Campaign 4, is that they will divide into three categories: “Soldiers, Schemeres, and Seekers.”
Critical RoleA release reveals that bit of character information, alongside a reveal that the cast listed above won’t all be playing together all the time. Critical Role shares that the first four episodes of Campaign 4 “will act as an Overture, introducing and weaving all 13 cast members through intersecting scenes before the story splits into three smaller tables – the Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers – for the rest of the campaign, with overarching themes and genres tying them altogether.”
This system, shares Brennan Lee Mulligan, will give us “an expanded view of the world through different tables that mix and match.” But the challenge of it is “to take an enormous party of epic heroes across multiple adventures concurrently, on a scale and size I have never attempted before.”
Critical RoleIn the end, Critical Role Campaign 4 divided people by the particular playstyle they were interested in engaging with. In the end, Critical Role formed the three tables, “Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.” The Soldiers, Brennan Lee Mulligan shares “The Soldiers table are the people who are interested in a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode—where the non-violent answers were few and far between.” Meanwhile, “The Seekers are people that tie directly into lore, cosmology, magic, big questions around problems facing this universe that are in the weave of the dance between divinity and arcane, and magic, and demons, and fairies, and dragons, and these big kinds of questions. It’s very classical fantasy.” And finally, “The Schemers table is very much set in intrigue, espionage, skullduggery, and relationships with each other and other NPCs and institutions and the machinations of power. Their adventuring looks like cloak and dagger. There are enemies right here in your hometown, and they are moving against you as we speak.”
Critical RoleCurious and curioser. We think we’ll love the Schemers. But we can’t help but wonder what the Seekers are seeking. For now, Critical Role Campaign 4 has revealed the players who make up its Soldiers’ Table in its third episode. Although the four episodes, we still haven’t had an in-universe reveal, we also now know who the Schemers and the Seekers are.

Did CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4 Already Kill a Player Character?

Brennan Lee Mulligan promised Critical Role Campaign 4 would be lethal, and he’s already living up to his word. In the early moments of “Stone-Faced,” the fourth and final episode of the Critical Role Campaign 4 overture, Alex Ward’s fresh-faced necromancer Occtis Tachonis is seemingly murdered and left for dead at the hands of his own family as part of House Tachonis’ siege on House Davinos. Mere hours into Critical Role Campaign 4, and players are already being asked to leave the table—did Alex Ward’s Occtis Tachonis really just meet his death before Critical Role even left the overture? We break it down.

Short answer? Yes. In episode four of Critical Role Campaign 4, Alex Ward’s Occtis (and his beloved franken-fox Pincushion) are killed by his brother Ethrand Tachonis, marking the first player character death of the new campaign, and in record time for Critical Role.
How Did Occtis’ Death Occur?Occtis’ demise began in the final moments of last week’s episode, which saw Palazzo Davinos under siege by Occtis’ father and brother, Primus and Ethrand Tachonis (accompanied by a contingent of ghouls) in a full-scale attempt to eradicate both House Davinos and House Royce. As Thaisha (in the form of a wolf) raced to the scene, having been warned by Vaelus that the Occtis was in danger, Lady Aranessa and Occtis were already inside the Palazzo, taking on Occtis’ brother Ethrand and his cohort of ghouls.
Though Lady Aranessa puts up a valiant effort, Ethrand’s quick casting of a Silence spell cripples Occtis’ casting options, and the ghouls brute force Occtis onto a table, holding him down with a garrotte so Ethrand can take a knife and begin to saw his brother’s open. Ethrand labels Occtis a traitor and rips the beating heart from his now-open chest, replacing it with the Stone of Nightsong. And thus, Occtis Tachonis’ death occurs in Critical Role Campaign 4.

Critical RoleGutted and left for dead at the hands of his own family, Occtis drops to 0 hit points and (after some truly unfortunate rolls on his death saving throws, including a natural one) is killed. But as Occtis lays dead on the Critical Role Campaign 4 table (with Pincushion having disappeared before Vaelus and Thaisha’s eyes) his consciousness drifts into a liminal space between life and death.
In the liminal space, Occtis hears Thaisha’s voice urging him to return to the waking world, but feels his father attempting to drag him into an eternal darkness. Bolstered by Thaisha’s encouragement, Occtis shakes himself free of his father’s grasp and begins to sew himself back together, mending the hole in his chest where his heart is now missing. Feeling something beneath the stitches, Occtis pulls a spectral version of Pincushion and a feather from his chest before discovering the Stone of Nightsong in place of where his heart should be, and removing it.
In the waking world, the rest of the party (sans the departed Soldiers table) arrive at Palazzo Davinos in time to see Thaisha desperately trying to cure wounds on Occtis’ dead body. After detecting powerful necromantic magic on the corpse, Bolaire (with the help of Thaisha’s guidance, Hal’s inspiration, and a crucial nat 20 portent roll from Murray) successfully removes the Stone of Nightsong from Occtis’ chest, which wakes him up from his death state in Critical Role Campaign 4.

His breathing is now either conscious or absent.Occtis’ blood isn’t flowing.Any part of Occtis’ body he doesn’t actively command has gone so still, it is frightening to him.Brennan Lee Mulligan and Alex Ward Share Insights on Occtis’ Death and Revenant Status During Critical CooldownWhile Occtis’ sudden and tragic death came as a shock to the rest of the table, Brennan Lee Mulligan confirmed in the Critical Role Cooldown for episode 4 that Alex Ward had pitched his character as a revenant during character creation. According to Mulligan, Ward wanted to play a “necromancer hollow one who’s a member of one of the sundered houses,” and who was “murdered by his family and was a secret necromancer wizard.”
Mulligan readily agreed, with the caveat that Occtis’ death would take place onscreen and not as part of his pre-campaign backstory, leading to the instantly-iconic encounter at Palazzo Davinos. In terms of specific undead terminology, Mulligan calls Occtis a “freaky revenant”, using the term interchangeably with “hollow one.”
Regarding Occtis’ status in un-death, Mulligan teased that viewers have not yet seen the “full ramifications of that roll” (referring to Murray’s nat 20) and that had the scene played out differently, Occtis may not have returned. Mulligan also joked that “Occtis’ choices have brought us to one of the worst versions” of his revenant/hollow one status, but admitted that House Tachonis and the ghouls rolled exceptionally well during the combat.
Alex Ward’s Occtis May Gain New Abilities and Features as a Revenant
Critical RoleThough Mulligan has all manner of homebrew going on in Aramán, if Critical Role Campaign 4 follows traditional D&D rules, Occtis’ newfound status as a revenant gives him a few new abilities, including a bump to some of his base stats.
Revenants also have the “Relentless Nature” feature, which dictates that the revenant pursues a goal (typically related to their death), allowing them to regenerate if destroyed and return in constant pursuit of their mission. Crucially, though, revenants die permanently and cannot be restored once they fulfill their goal, which spells even more bad news for the already ill-fated Occtis.
Although Occtis has returned to us alive for now in Critical Role Campaign 4, his true death may be just around the corner after all.

CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4’s 3 Tables Revealed: Soldiers, Seekers and Schemers
Critical Role Campaign 4 is officially into the thick of its campaign. The first four episodes served as an overture to set the scene for the rest of the campaign’s story and reveal to us a very important determination, who will sit in each of Critical Role‘s three sub-tables, the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers. You see, not every actor and character will be in every Critical Role Campaign 4 episode. That’s because Critical Role Campaign 4 is set to take on a West Marches-style of Dungeons and Dragons game, something that Critical Role has never done before. This means that there are too many player characters to all fit at the table at the same time; in this case 13 of them. Instead, the campaign will break up into sub-tables that each will tell its own specific story but will significantly impact one another. And we assume at times these tables will overlap during Critical Role Campaign 4. As mentioned, these three Critical Role Campaign 4 tables are the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers’ tables. And now, we finally know which characters belong to which table, and, in essence, which actors will play together during Critical Role Campaign 4.
Critical Role
But who belongs to which table? Join us as we break down Critical Role Campaign 4‘s Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

Critical RoleSo, who is part of the Soldiers’ Table? Critical Role Campaign 4‘s Soldiers’ Table includes Teor Pridesire played by Travis Willingham, Thimble played by Laura Bailey, Kattigan Vale played by Robbie Daymond, Tyranny played by Whitney Moore, and Wicander (Wick) Halovar played by Sam Riegel.
The Soldiers’ Table is not necessarily made up entirely of Soldier characters (though there are quite a few). Instead, the moniker speaks more to the gameplay of this table, which will, in broad strokes, consist of many combat scenes and battles. Violence WILL be the answer.

Critical RoleFinally, we have the Seekers’ Table. Critical Role Campaign 4‘s Seekers’ Table is made up of Sir Julien Davinos played by Matt Mercer, Thaisha Lloy played by Aabria Iyengar, Occtis Tachonis played by Alex Ward, and Vaelus played by Ashley Johnson.
The Seekers’ Table will take us on a more traditional fantasy journey at its table. The Seekers are those interested in the larger questions of the world and in examining ideas of divinity, arcane powers, and magic through their game.

As with the Soldiers’, being part of the Schemers’ Table doesn’t necessarily make its characters unsavory or sneaky (though some certainly are!). The Schemers’ Table more refers to the gameplay and story of this table being about spygames, interpersonal relationships, and machinations of power.

Who Is Part of the Seekers’ Table in CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4?
From the outset, we knew that Critical Role Campaign 4 would be played as a West Marches-style Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This meant that the 13 player characters of Campaign 4 would split into sub-tables, each playing out its own story while heavily influencing the other two stories happening around it. Game Master Brennan Lee Mulligan revealed early on that we would have three sub-tables in Critical Role Campaign 4: the Soldiers, the Seekers, and the Schemers. In Critical Role Campaign 4 episode three, we learned who would be a part of the Soldiers table. But we left behind episode four, the last of the “overture” episodes of the campaign, introducing us to all of the characters in the story, without knowing who would be a part of the Seekers or Schemers table. Instead, by surprise, the important information came to us from an unexpected source. A “Meet the Characters of Campaign 4” featurette released by Critical Role revealed the makeup of the other two groups in the campaign; information not officially confirmed in the campaign. So just who makes up the Seekers’ table in Critical Role Campaign 4? Well, we have to say, it’s exactly who we were hoping for.
Critical Role
In Critical Role Campaign 4, the Seekers’ Table is made of Sir Julien Davinos played by Matt Mercer, Thaisha Lloy played by Aabria Iyengar, Occtis Tachonis played by Alex Ward, and Vaelus played by Ashley Johnson.
What Does It Mean to Be Part of the Seekers’ Table? As with the Soldiers’ Table, being a part of the Seekers’ Table does not necessarily speak to thematic elements in the Critical Role Campaign 4 characters themselves, although we bet it will speak to this, too. Instead, GM Brennan Lee Mulligan explained to us that Critical Role Campaign 4 divided players into their respective tables by the particular playstyle they were interested in engaging with during the campaign.
He shared, “The Seekers are people that tie directly into lore, cosmology, magic, big questions around problems facing this universe that are in the weave of the dance between divinity and arcane, and magic, and demons, and fairies, and dragons, and these big kinds of questions. It’s very classical fantasy.”
Critical Role/Loren HontanillaWith an elf, a revenant necromancer, and a druid among their number, we can certainly see how Vaelus, Thaisha, Julien, and Occtis made it into the Seekers’ Table. It also feels like all of these characters are questioning the world around them, seeking bigger answers if you will and trying to understand why the world is the way it is. And it sounds like the actors behind them really wanted to play a truly fantastical game—one we’re very excited to see unfurl.
What Has Brought the Members of the Seekers‘ Table Together?Critical Role Campaign 4, episode 5, officially established the Seekers’ Table yet. In the end, it was the Seekers’ shared experiences and connection to Occtis Tachonis that primarily brought them together.
All four of the Critical Role Campaign 4 Seekers were a part of the battle of Palazzo Davinos, where House Tachonis attacked House Royce and House Davinos, completely annihilating almost everyone who was a part of these two houses. This intense attack involved nearly ripping the veil between the world of the living and the dead, a harrowing experience for all.

Did CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 4 Already Kill a Player Character?During this battle, Thaisha, Vaelus, and Sir Julien also witnessed the death of Occtis Tachonis, the worst kind of bonding experience. They all then also watched as Occtis was quasi-resurrected by the magic of Bolaire, Murray, and the Stone of Nightsong (plus a lucky Nat 20 portent roll), but his death was an intense occasion for all. They come to learn that the Stone of Nightsong is now deeply interlinked with Occtis and his existence.
As mentioned, the combined power of these events brings the Seekers together. In Critical Role Campaign 4, episode five, Occtis and the group realize that the Stone of Nightsong showed him visions of a place east of Dol-Makjar, and he feels that is where he must go since he is no longer safe in the city. Vaelus, who is deeply connected to the Stone of Nightsong, as it is a relic of her now-dead god, and to Occtis through his new bond with it, swears to join him and protect him. Sir Julien Davinos also promises to accompany Occtis, believing that where Occtis goes, his family will follow, and then Julien can have his revenge. Occtis’ father, Primus Tachonis, murdered Julien’s father and much of his house during the aforementioned attack.
Finally, though Thaisha Lloy sought to say longer in Dol-Makjar, her love and protectiveness over Occtis compells her to join the journey east. Additionally, going east will bring Thaisha to the place where the Barrowguard train, and that is the organization her son currently belongs to.
Where Will the Seekers‘ Table Campaign Episodes Take Place?Currently, we know the Seekers’ Table will take place east of Dol-Makjar. The Stone of Nightsong gave Occtis visions of a place east, showing him glimpses of the Barrowgaurd training and the ancestral lands of House Tachonis. We yet know more details about the exact places the Seekers will visit, but hey! We have a heading.
Additionally, Occtis Tachonis and Vaelus’ stories both seem to heavily involve the Underworld/realms of the dead, while Sir Julien has a connection to the realm of Faerie, so it’s possible we’ll end up heading to more magical realms before long. The lost gods of the Shapers’ War also seem to play a big role for these characters as well. We’ll have to wait and see where their story will take them.
What Will the Seekers‘ Table Plot Consist of in Critical Role Campaign 4?
Critical RoleHere’s what Brennan Lee Mulligan leaves us with when it comes to the plot of the Seekers’ Table in Critical Role Campaign 4: “The cosmic and supernal hangs over the deeply absurd and foolish, and you see a stone possessed of the goddess of life hangs in the air before descending under Aranessa’s nodding gaze into Vaelus’ hand. A mother and father vow to protect their children. The cosmic, the familiar, the personal, it’s always all tied up together
Vaelus and Occtis both seem to seek a fuller understanding of death. Thaisha aims to heal the land and do good for her loved ones; she’d also like to know what went wrong in the plot to save the life of Thjazi Fang and find her son. Meanwhile, Julien appears to be primed for a story of revenge for his father. We’ll see how all these unique threads weave together.
Personally, we’re rooting for a Julien and Thaisha romance. Make it happen, dice gods!
What Episodes of Critical Role Campaign 4 Do the Seekers‘ Table Appear In?
Critical RoleSo far, the Seeker’s Table has unofficially appeared in every episode of Critical Role Campaign 4, that’s episodes 1-6. However, they were only briefly in episode six’s Cold Open. We’ll have to wait and see what episodes they turn up in going forward.
