Tom is the multiple un-award-winning author of over three-quarters of THREE books, which he wrote with absolutely no help from his mum. His books include 'One Seriously Messed-Up Week' and 'One Seriously Messed-Up Weekend' in the Jack Samsonite series for young adults, plus the brand spanking new 'How to Avoid Certain Death' which is also a real life book, but, you know, for kids (8-12-ish).

More than two and a half people have read his books nearly all the way to the end and he is rapidly becoming what critics are calling 'Completely Unheard Of'!

He lives in Cheshire where he used to work in animation, but now spends most of his time stuck the following routine:
- Have a child.
- Write a book.

3. Too many distractions. I have to be away from the house and the internet (a treehouse is my dream).

2. Not enough sleep. My brain has to be really sharp in order to stay focussed.

1. I've probably taken a wrong turn somewhere in my writing. Writing, for me, is like walking a maze - if I hit a dead end I have to retrace my steps and figure out where I went wrong. Thinking about my characters' motivations usually gets me back in the right direction. (less)

I spend all of my days clamouring to find an extra few minutes to write. Even when I'm not physically putting pen to paper I'm still writing in my head. I write while I'm driving, on the walk to pick the kids up from school, when I'm washing the dishes, having a bath, even when I'm reading a book or watching a film. Writing is never something I struggle to switch on because it's never switched off. It's my guilt-free addiction.(less)

“Hi!'

The chirpy little voice greeted me with such energised enthusiasm it made me jump nearly a foot out of my seat. I turned around, expecting to see the usual cocky little Bezzer-in-training Tyler, who every once in a while enjoys pissing off as many people on the bus as possible, but to my surprise it was the scruffy little quiet Year 7 who sits at the front of the bus with his big orange hair bouncing around.

'Hello,' I replied dubiously. (You can't assume that a kid isn't intending to give you grief just because he has ginger hair, not these days. What is the world coming to?)”
