One for the casting couch
Think of your immediate image of ‘a poet’ and what gender, age, look, attitude, that ‘poet’ has.
-Do you type-cast what a poet looks like?
-Who or what has informed you what a poet should look like?
-Are your immediate instincts not in-line with your actual understanding?
Now…
-What do you think a poet looks like?
-How much do looks matter to you?
-Why do looks matter or not matter?
-Is a poet, not just type on the page but also a casket for a photographer?
Poets do not exist in isolation, even if they’re just thinking about the pst or the past or the asked. It might matter to sum how they look, especially if sums are on the casting couch of a film, about a poet.
What picture just went through your head then, of that poet? Was it stereotypical? Or has the picture shifted?
Stuff and stuff the poet answer on this one.
