Fire and Ice (4/23) Excerpt!
“What else do you need?”
“To lay on the couch with a heating pad and wallow in the woes of being a woman.”
He snorts but stands up. “Okay. Show me the way.”
Making a quick detour to grab my heating pad, I lead Cameron to the couch, where I promptly slump into the over-worn cushions.
He sits next to me, giving me space but staying close enough that I can feel his body heat. “Do you want me to give you an orgasm?”
I choke on my iceless water. “Excuse me?”
He shrugs casually as if that wasn’t the most out of left-field thing he’s ever said. “Orgasms can help with pain. They trigger oxytocin and dopamine. Whenever I have a headache, I jerk off, and it does more than Tylenol or Motrin ever has.”
Is this how Cameron feels when I ask him questions he isn’t expecting? Completely thrown off and not sure what to think, let alone say? I briefly wonder if he gave me some hallucinogenic instead of ibuprofen because there’s no way he said that. Right?
He laughs, his green eyes lit with amusement. “I didn’t think it was possible to stun you silent.”

“Now let’s talk about the part where I have to pretend to be madly in love with you.”His smile drops abruptly. “I never said madly in love. Just dating.”
“Fake dating,” I correct, because that word feels important right now. “We should probably establish some rules and figure out what Operation Fake Girlfriend looks like.”
He shoots me an incredulous look. “Operation Fake Girlfriend?”
“Every good plan needs a name,” I tell him. “So, what are you thinking?”
“Honestly, haven’t thought that far ahead,” he admits. “I’ve never fake-dated anyone before.”
“Neither have I.” I rest my chin in my cupped hand. “You know, if you heeded my advice to watch reality TV, you’d have a better understanding about fake relationships in general.”
He smirks and it’s annoyingly sexy. “I’ll get right on that.”
