Once I get an idea I like, I'll fill up a lot of notebook pages and then type them up in a word document. From there I start doing breakdowns by page and start fleshing out the dialogue.

Usually, I write in chapters or sections and then tie those parts together. Going on walks or doing laps in the pool also inspire me to write. If I'm watching too much Tv or too many movies, it's not good, so I almost have to bore myself, so that I generate my own content and clear everything else out of there so the gears in my head start moving. I also have a folder in my desktop full of art that inspires me and I can browse through those images and a story will usually come to mind.(less)

This book had such a great opening—I fell in love with it within the first few pages. However, as the story went on, it became a chore to finish. The structure felt repetitive, and I found myself wishing it were half as long. While the premise was to ...more

"The House in the Cerulean Sea" was recommended to me as a cozy fantasy. Initially, it reminded me of Terry Gilliam's film 'Brazil,' and later, it seemed as if it were a Tim Burton film transcribed to the page—a comparison that is by no means unfavor ...more

It's definitely possible. Maybe even within the year. It's the shortest of my novellas, so I think there's a question of "do people want this?" but it's something I'd like to do.

George R.R. Martin
“The gods made the earth for all men t' share. Only when the kings come with their crowns and steel swords, they claimed it was all theirs. "My trees," they said, "you can't eat them apples. My stream, you can't fish here. My wood, you're not t' hunt. My earth, my water, my castle, my daughter, keep your hands away or I'll chop 'em off, but maybe if you kneel t' me I'll let you have a sniff." You call us thieves, but at least a thief has t' be brave and clever and quick. A kneeler only has t' kneel.”

“She felt ... less. She felt tamped down. Dim. More faint. Feint. Feigned. Fain.”
