Rich and Poor
I hope everyone is having a great year so far. I am having a good year, but not without some challenges. I have seemed to notice lately that many in the world seem to be too focused on money - how to get rich or richer. Although it takes money in this society, it shouldn't be focused on so dramatically or obsessively. I like to think I am rich in spirit - spirit of life, friends, and the good Lord. I believe if we all concentrate more on being rich in spirit, good things shall soon prevail. It's all in the way you perceive your life. I was given a great little story that gives an interesting perspective of being rich and being poor. I hope you enjoy and may you be rich in spirit today and everyday.
Rich and Poor
One day the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family. On their return from the trip, the father asked his son, " How was the trip?" " It was great, Dad." " Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked. "Oh yea," said the son. " So tell me, what did you learn from your trip?" The son answered:
I saw that we have one dog and they have four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have all the light from the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, but they have friends to protect them."
The boys father was speechless, then the boy added, " Thanks Dad, for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worring aoubt what we don't have.

This year..
I am a little late addressing the New Year's resolution thing due to a hectic schedule, but I couldn't let it just pass by without acknowledging the idea of upcoming goals and changes we each promise to strive for. I found a great, short series of statements that are somewhat different from the same 'ole "..gonna loose weight, gonna exercise more, gonna go see parents more...." declarations. These are promises to yourself. I truly believe if we can strive to do these, this year will be an awesomely rewarding one. Hope you enjoy, and have a great day!
PROMISE YOURSELF
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your the best , to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are Christian D. Larson - The Optimist Creed

Things aren't always what they seem.
Good Day! Sometimes during the Holiday season we become discouraged that some things just didn't turn out like we planned, or what we thought things were going to happened didn't, or what we thought was going to go our way didn't, and most of all when we didn't get what we thought we were going to get. I am sure you have heard many times things happen for a reason, and they do. Most of the time we just wish the bad stuff would happen to someone else. I would like to encourage you to put away "discouragement'" in your world during this holiday season. Strive to find the upside to every situation that you come across. Just keep singing in your mind, "Don't Worry Be Happy" because things aren't always what they seem. Here is a little story that reflects on that thought and will help you remember to " Love thy neighbor."
Two Traveling Angels
Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.
As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem."
The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.
When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen?
"The first man had everything, yet you helped him," she accused. "The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and yet you let the cow die."
"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied.
"When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it."
"Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem."

It's a New Type of Blog
I am totally aware that you have millions of sites to read and explore, so first let me tell you thank you for taking the time to view mine. From what I have read, most blogs are made up of some rambling mixed in with some generic requests and a little attitude. Many are put together quite well. I just want to inform, share knowledge, and together, gain more knowledge. Knowledge about what? Lots of good-life living stuff. Insights to being the greatest parent ever. Information to help you accomplish that. Views from those who also strive for a happy, adventurous life. Peaceful life. I do not emphasize prosperous because if you have peace and happiness you will prosper. I will strive to keep my opinions to be more like things to "ponder." Knowledge is often called the "key to life.'" I didn't say "instructions to life," you know where to find that. Knowledge is what I hope to offer to you with each blog and also a little insight as to why I chose that topic. Have a great day, thanks for reading, and most of all "Keep on Smilin."

Good Life
Now that the mega shopping days have past, hopefully the world will calm down and think about what the Holiday season is really all about. I have faith in people, that faith seeks to believe they will see the light, the light that shines on them, and the light they represent that can glow for miles for everyone to see. To fuel that light, I offer this insight. Live Simply, Love Generously, Care deeply, Speak Kindly and leave the rest to God. Happiness keeps you strong, Failures keep you Humble, But only God keeps you going. Have a great day, and a Blessed Holiday season.

Seasons of Life
It often seems like just when things are moving along pretty smoothly, change slowly creeps in. Sometimes changes in our life are welcomed with open arms, others are brought upon us. While going through these challenges we seek hope, and pray for the best outcome. I am thinking, you should try turning all your challenges into opportunities based on experience - the opportunities that are in the treasures of a full life. My wife and a friend shared this story with me and I would like to share it with you. It kinda goes with my thoughts today. Hope you enjoy.
FOUR SEASONS OF A TREE
"There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to Judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went inthe winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no--it was covered with green buds and full of promise. The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but Only one season in the tree's life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are--and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life--can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are complete.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall. Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere throughout the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later."
