Hi Colin! Thanks for the question!
I've always loved writing. If something happens to me, I don't feel I've truly experienced it unless I write about it! And in writing about it, I always understand it and feel it on a deeper level.

But if you really want to know what made me think I could write a book, that's an easy question to answer. I moved to France and everyday I had crazy things happen to me- like being chased by a man in a duck suit selling pâté, like encountering a man in a restaurant supply store carrying a live chicken under his arm while shopping for a knife, and of course like being constantly taught/scolded by our across the street neighbor, Madame Mallet. ANYONE living across the street from Madame Mallet, an old lady tomboy and French patriot who hated kids and loved cats and watched our every move behind her lace curtain where she though we couldn't see her (we could!) would have to write a book!

Writing is a joy for me. It's a way I find out how I really feel about something. And it's a way that I keep track of the wonders God shows me in this crazy life.

Thanks for asking!(less)

My Parking Lot Fail — How It’s Making Me Rethink 2026

My grocery cart was full.

It was mid-December and I was excited. Our family would soon be together again! I’d been dreaming of a magical, sugar-plum Christmas, so I’d filled my cart with everything I’d need to make my kids’ favorite recipes and pushed it into the checkout lane. As the teenage boy behind the register scanned my things, we shared a nice laugh about the frenzy of the season. “It’s got

“Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it, because in the last analysis all moments are key moments, and life itself is grace.”
