In a way, each of my novels carries a seed of some mystery that needs to be resolved. By writing a novel and creating characters, I let my characters live their own lives and solve their own problems--I let them lead me to the resolution. The path and the ending often amazes me and I wonder where does it come from--the collective subconscious, past lives, something I might have glimpsed at or heard about or read about, or dreamed up. My dreams are a fertile ground--a wealthy source of images and scenes and possibilities. When I begin a novel, I have an idea, a calling, a drive to delve into an issue, an emotion, or an event. But that's all. The journey is led by my characters. I follow them and observe and allow them to live and feel and experience. If I were to identify a single mystery, it would most likely not become a novel. But if you read my novels, you will discover the mystery that drove each one. What does the story say to you? How does it make you feel? What thoughts, images, experiences, wishes, emotions, memories, does it evoke? Writing is about the readers. The most important part of writing is the reader. I would love to know your experience of one of my novels or stories. Thanks for writing. I'll be glad to reply:) Happy reading:)(less)

My favourite fictional couple is Emma and Charles Bovary in Gustave Flaubert's novel, Madame Bovary.
The characters embody the complexities of life as we know it, in all its strengths and frailties--in all its beauty and sorrow--and therefore remain timeless. (less)
