PAINTING PUT TO WORDS
THE GODS OF WINTER by Gerald G. Griffin is a novel akin to a beautiful, rare painting sparkling into words. The essence of its beauty, in words, is captured by clicking, http://www.bobbiethebibliophile.com/n...

NOBILITY IN WRITING
Nancy Cline, a member of MENSA, said in review of my writings, "In this age, yes there is a nobility of spirit and courage to preserve and protect that nobility. In the field of fiction we have men of great stature. To that list add the name of Gerald G. Griffin."
Of all my novels, THE GODS OF WINTER perhaps reflects the majesty of this spirit
the most, protecting that nobility.
Against a vibrant backdrop of interlocking and unforgettable characters, THE GODS OF WINTER follows the unraveling challenges to Bob Daniels, at first with humor and laughter, then with frustration and misfortune, this on top of a dire warning from his father, as he seeks to become a noted psychologist. Finally, after several unsettling mishaps, one causing him to stay clear of marriage, Bob reaches the noted status he seeks. When he does, by happenstance, he meets Gloria Hopkins, a noted stage performer.
As if dictated by fate, the two fall helplessly in love, a rare and daring love promising a glowing rainbow of happiness. But mysteriously, their love is beset by a crafty force of the unknown, one inexplicably leading Bob And Gloria down a path to sadness and tragedy.
The story ends in awe.
(Another mystery connected with the novel is its 3 star rating given elsewhere on Goodreads, based on two reviews. I can not find these reviews and their averaged rating is contradicted by the averaged 4.3 star rating of reviews given the novel on Amazon, with not one of these reviews falling to a 3 star rating)
Further life is given to THE GODS OF WINTER, including a video trailer, on my new website, https://www.authorgeraldgriffin.com For you lovers of on edge mystery, suspense, dicey romance, true love and the gripping unknown, I welcome you to the wonders of my website, a journey into literary marvels, intimate revelations, and the amusing fun of my pizzazz blog postings.
Could ber a resounding party -- and you are invited.

MY NEW NOVEL COMING SOON
It has been tough clearing out all the cobwebs accumulated in my blog space -- there goes a disgruntled spider dashing off right now, but, you see, my absence in posting is because I have been preoccupied in the gut wrenching, emotionally draining, tear-jerking task of writing a new novel, one refreshingly different and unequaled, a story so powerful and breathtaking that my publisher claims it should sell in the thousands of copies.
Whew!
The novel is THE GODS OF WINTER, fiction based on fact, the factual side winking at some of the author's personal experiences, but fiction in the driver's seat.
Unescapably suspenseful, with page-turning intensity, the novel's tale is one reaching for the stuff of legend in its unfolding of captivating happenings interlocking with vibrant, unforgettable characters in search of a nebulous destiny, where humor sneaks in its say in the midst of propriety and tragedy.
As this captivating tale progresses, from its startling episodes and mix of its rich characters, a man and a woman, each notable and compelling in their own right, become centered and are brought together in an unlikely fashion, as though by fate, developing a rare and daring love between them, an endearing love, all the while their love is set upon by a mysterious, crafty, unknown force cruelly lurking with the inexplicable seeds of madness, inexorably leading the couple -- despite the lengths they go to to fight it off, not knowing what they are fighting -- down a harrowing path that will shatter the life of their love, this force becoming a haunting for one of them.
Love and madness pulling in a range of characters to an eventual ravaging backdrop of dashed hope and sanity, trickery, blackmail, facing the impossible with no way out, and an unexpected ending.
This rather brief overview can in no way give you the undefinable impact of the story, for really, it is beyond words and description. This impact can only be felt, sucked into the very cells of your being as you become immersed in the story's emerging, ranging magnetism; immersed in the depths of its wonder -- humor and laughter, smiles of life, dedication, letdowns, uncertainties, hope and despair, tragedy and sadness, the unknown, and the unexpected bafflement of life unfolding, then unraveling, before you, leaving you in a pondering gasp of awe.
THE GODS OF WINTER will becoming soon, to be released sometimes this coming October. When it is released, I will be making another posting.
Kindly, Gerald
It is now early November, 2017, that I'm adding to this post. THE GODS OF WINTER was released in October, and among other sites (including B&N), it can now be purchased on Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/dp/1946540102/...
I gather no one out there is reading this (unlike on Facebook), but still, to spruce things up, try the action on my video trailer, https://youtu.be/-5sqL8YGExo

WHAT, PRAY TELL
What's happening? Where has everyone gone? In the old days, this place was jumping with action! Where has the new action gone? Did I not serve decent martinis -- always with two olives among the merriment of gleeful toasts, happy fellowship, lively laughter and hearty discussion?
Now all that resounding ebullience has been reduced to the sound of silence, leaving me feeling like I'm in THE GRADUATE movie, willing even to welcome a visit by Mrs. Robinson, as sad as that would be.
Maybe the problem is with the oiives -- two was too much! Or maybe things have moved on to the rambunctious effect of gawdy floor shows, with mesmerizing baloons, a jumping orchestra, a top-notch sexy vocalist, everyone dancing hectically to a devilish, vibrant beat and swinging wildly from chandeliers while booming out Tarzan yells. If so, don't leave me out. Invite me. I'd fit right in. I have an intoxicating Tarzan bellow driving the babes bananas!
Anyting but this -- this maddening silence!
Must I be forced back to reading OF GOOD AND EVIL, with its suspense and "keeping you on edge" intil the end, where the characters are vibrant and alive, some deadly so?
See what I mean: http://www.amazon.com/dp/160976014X ; in the UK, http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/160976014X .

INTRVIEW BY A GOODREADS MEMBER
It has been a long while since your last posting. Has that been because of the distraction with the making of the movie based upon your novel OF GOOD AND EVIL?
Somewhat. But there were other pressing distractions -- too involved to go into here.
Well, now that you're finally back, what would you like to say to the members?
Nothing.
Nothing?!...After all this time away, you can't just give them NOTHING! Heavens!
It takes creative genius to give them nothing. Nothing is bliss. Think of all the bliss I've given them in my absence.
But...but -- this crowd won't STAND for nothing!
Nothing is better than bull.
But they WANT bull. NEED and CRAVE it! And you're the master at it. Some say quite humorous in dishing it out.
I don't feel humorous.
Ah...so that's it ---MOOD! We need to get you in the mood for bull. Okay, what say I mix you a nice relaxing martini?
With olives?
You bet! Gin or vodka?
Vodka. I think I'll need the Rasputin spirit. So go easy on the vermouth.
Gotcha!
After a few minutes pause for making the martini, it was handed to me with a devilish smile of triumph. I gulped down the first few sips, then felt the edge of my reluctance slip away, putting me in a better mood to answer questions.
I see you're enjoying your drink...becoming more relaxed, so give me something -- ANYTHING, but none of that nothing bit.
Well, I'm thinkng of how hard it is to see the forest.
Because of the trees?...
Yeah, THAT'S IT! Those damn trees! Weird trees. Before they started popping up, I could see the full forest in all its glory...its magnificence...its transcending beauty inspiring the soul. But now with these weird trees continuing to pop up...everyone hugging them like the bull you mentioned, as though these trees had a polluting purpose of their own, entangling and spoiling everthing about them, they're increasingly blocking and hindering my view of the grand forest. It's becoming lost. Madness!
Is that the grabber you want to entice the reader with?
No. The grabber is in reading OF GOOD AND EVIL -- availsble in the U.S. at http://www.amazon.com/dp/160976014X ; in the UK http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/160976014X . There, in the novel, you can still see that full, pure, transcending beauty of the majestic forest. Real bliss!
