Felicia Watson started writing stories as soon as they handed her a pencil in first grade. She’s especially drawn to character driven tales, where we see people we recognize, people who struggle with their mistakes and shortcomings, acknowledge them, and use that knowledge to grow into wiser human beings.

When not writing, Felicia spends her time chasing after her not-so-brilliant, but darling and beloved dogs, is chased by her truly brilliant, darling and beloved husband, is known to friends and family as an amateur pastry chef, and still finds time for swimming and her day job as a scientist.

“No, I can see that you’re right. I guess it’s like if
someone hurts you and you hit back at them even harder without trying to figure out what happened in the first place, then you just set up this endless cycle of hurt.” Decker had seemed to be talking to the table but at this point she gave a quick glance at the captain. “And nobody wins that.”
Felicia Watson, We Have Met the Enemy

“But we’re getting ahead of ourselves – we don’t even
know if Decker would agree to take this on. What we’re proposing is definitely dangerous and, let’s face it, a little bit crazy.”
“And at this point unauthorized,” Bastié added.
“Great,” Tal said. “Dangerous, crazy, and unauthorized
– those are her three favorite things.”
Felicia Watson, Spooky Action at a Distance

“Decker added, “It’s all true. You can ask VICI about it, if you want.”
“No, I believe you. Man’s inhumanity to man has a long history.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t have found it so hard to believe
that they came from us.”
Once again, Lindstrom couldn’t deny her perceptivity.
“Maybe not.”
Just then, the timing buzzer sounded letting them know that they were free to try the airlock again. Both came out clean this time, or rather, clean of what an air shower could wash away.”

Mark Millar, Civil War

“If there really had been a Mercutio, and if there really were a Paradise, Mercutio might be hanging out with teenage Vietnam draftee casualties now, talking about what it felt like to die for other people's vanity and foolishness.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Hocus Pocus

“These ladies with Dachshunde are the most dangerous, violent and evil beings ever to stalk the streets in search of cyclists to maim and kill.”
Cathy Dobson, Planet Germany

“We are all humiliated by the sudden discovery of a fact which has existed very comfortably and perhaps been staring at us in private while we have been making up our world entirely without it.”
George Eliot, Middlemarch

“Most people don't realize how important librarians are. I ran across a book recently which suggested that the peace and prosperity of a culture was solely related to how many librarians it contained. Possibly a slight overstatement. But a culture that doesn't value its librarians doesn't value ideas and without ideas, well, where are we?”
