Day In The Life™ 2025 | Ali's Project

Last Friday was our annual Day In The Life™ community documenting day. This is always such a fun project that roots us in the basic routine of our daily life in this season.

This year I decided to approach documenting my day by simply focusing on the concept of "noticing." I used the cards from the kit as the jumping off point and ended up taking photos of eight pieces of my day and adding journaling of what I noticed on the other side of a hanging circle tag (cut from the pattern paper in the kit). I wanted to create something playful and interactive and I love how this came together.

Here's a look at how I told the story of my day:

Here are images of my completed project:

The first thing I did for this project was decide that I wanted to add this to my 10x8 album(s) for 2025. Once I decided that grabbed two of the 10x8 3x4 pocket page protectors - one to be cut up and stitched along the edge of the transparency and the other to hold six of my noticing cards. I cut up one of the page protectors in order to have two 3x4 pockets along the outside edge of the transparency.

In the top pocket I created a cluster of four chipboard circles stitched on top of a plain piece of transparency. In the bottom pocket I added the first of my eight "noticing" stories. I printed my photos 2.5 inch x 2 inch and stitched them onto the journal cards before slipping it into the pocket.

I used a 2 inch circle punch to get all the circles from the pattern paper in order to use them on the outside of the pockets.

I used the "in this season" stamp from the 3x4 stamp set to stamp eight circles on vellum. I used a 1.5 inch circle punch to punch them out. Each out of the vellum circles was paired with a 2 inch circle from the pattern paper. I used a jump ring to connect the circles together and then used some twine to attach it to the outside of the page protector. I used a word/phrase sticker on top of the twine and then also used my Tiny Attacher to staple it in place.

On the back of the 2 inch circles I stamped "today I noticed" and then hand-wrote a bit of journaling to write what I noticed when I took the photo.

Here's what it looks like when the spread is open:

I considered a couple things for the back of the chipboard in the top pocket. I could have added more chipboard. I could have painted them. I could have added pattern paper. I definitely considered number stamping the date. In the end I decided to keep it simple and just go with the plain background and simple white number stickers on top to document the date.

These white number stickers are from this set (new with our December Daily® collection this year).

It was fun to mix things up and have some elements on the outside of the pockets. I really liked using the word/phrase stickers as a "attaching" element and I also reinforced that with a stapler.

I used one of the Kelly Creates pens for my journaling on the back.

I paired each of the 2 inch circles I punched from the kit pattern paper with it's matching color on the journal cards.

Short stories for the win! Here's a look at all my documenting on the back of the circles:

Thanks so much for playing along with me this year! This project will be back again in 2026.

Day In The Life 2025™ | Special Guest Denine Zielinski

Hey friends! It’s Denine, and I am excited to be here today to share my Story Play Collection: Day In The Life 2025 process and album with you.

I am currently in a season of life where each new day is pretty much exactly the same as the last. Wake up, go to school, come home, prepare for school, go to bed, wake up, go to school, come home, prepare for school…well, you get the point. I’m pretty much living the movie Groundhog Day. I just started a new teaching position, and it takes up all of my time. So, when DITL time rolled around, I was curious as to how it would all play out. Then, I reminded myself that there’s always a story to tell and, I broke out my mini kit to begin gathering ideas. I was so super excited to find that Ali had chosen the lens of “today I noticed” and created these wonderful 3x4 cards for us to tell our stories.

Even in the most mundane of seasons, we all notice things, right? Perfect! I sat down and started brainstorming additional lenses to help me narrow down my focus. I came up with eight different things to notice and created some 3x4 cards to go along the ones in the kit.

This really took the pressure off of me when it came to taking pictures. No timeline. It reminded me of a few years back when we documented our DITL through the lens of colors, and I remember how freeing that felt. Documenting everything by times is fun, as well, but just wouldn’t have been good for me right now. Of course, both lenses (time and noticing) could totally be used together if it fits your current season.

I chose a 4x4 album from We Are Memory Keepers as the home for this DITL. I remember how much I loved doing a little 4x4 album for WITL back in 2022, and I got all excited just thinking about it! Below is one of the spreads from that album, and you can search for my entire post on Ali’s blog if you’d like to see more.

To open my album, I cut a piece of transparency from my stash to 5x5 inches and added the DITL 2025 chipboard piece + a vellum circle from my stash on top. I also added a little hanging tag with Wed on it. I cut that from one of the 12x12 paper from a past Quarterly Scrapbook Kit. I added a silver eyelet and hung it from the center of the transparency with a bulb pin.

On the backside, I added another vellum circle + chipboard piece.

Next up, I resized the digital version of the Basics One Day In This Life 7x8.25 Paper to fit my album, typed my journaling using the prompts, and stamped my date in the date spot. This page is so tiny, and I love it!

Then, I begin the design for each prompt that I created. I shopped my stash for 12x12 papers that I could cut down to use as backgrounds for my 3x4 journal cards. I cut the 12x12 papers into 4.25x4.5 rectangles and chose to add them in by using the holed strips from page protectors. You can also cut the rectangles to 4.5x4.5 and punch holes in them.

The first page of each section contains the prompt card that I created. I added a tiny silver brad to the top of the card for some dimension. That is followed by a divided 4x6 page protector folded in half. These page protectors are from a horizontal 4x6 album that was a part of a DITL release a few years back.

To alert the viewer that the page protector can be flipped open, I added a page tab. For those prompts where I did not have four photos, I slipped a 3x4 piece of patterned paper into one of the pockets. On top of that (outside the page protector), I added either a chipboard piece or a circle cut from the Words Text Quote Circles 7x8.25 Paper + a phrase strip.

I finished off each prompt with another piece of patterned paper + my journaling on one of the Today I Noticed 3x4 Journal Cards. In my video, you will see that I had originally added a tiny silver brad in the center of the zeroes. This caused my pages to be quite bulky on the top since I had another brad on the prompt cards I created. I thought this would be balanced out by the addition of chipboard pieces to the bottoms of the filler cards, but it wasn’t. I ended up removing the brads from the centers of the zeroes and adding a paper star instead.

You can see how my album came together for me in the video below.

I was seriously “in my head” with Day in the Life this year…feeling that my season right now was just too ordinary, too low-key, and too uneventful. So, I have a few final thoughts that I’d like to share if you happen to have similar feelings. Many of these thoughts are things that we all have probably heard before, but every once in a while we just need a little reminder.

1. Reframe ordinary, low-key, or uneventful as REAL. The routines you live right now (your morning coffee, commuting, cleaning up after your cats, teaching prep, even what you eat for dinner) may not feel special today, but in five or ten years they’ll be wonderful reminders of what daily life really looked like in this moment. Life can and does change ever so quickly while we’re busy just living.

2. Think long-term. Documenting the seemingly ordinary day is a gift to your future self. What feels plain now will one day be nostalgic in the same way old photos of kitchens, cars, or fashion seem endlessly interesting years later.

3. Embrace this year’s prompt: today I noticed. It invites you to pause for a moment in the middle of your routine and become more aware of what’s right in front of you. Instead of rushing through the day, it slows you down and helps you see your daily life as a story worth keeping. You can use some of the prompt cards that I created. I have included them in a PDF file below with four additional cards: things that I was grateful for, things that I let go, things that I did for others, and things that I did for myself.

DOWNLOAD DENINE'S PDF

You can see all of the pages in my album and how I worked with each of the prompts in the video below.

Thank you so much for joining me today. If you are on the fence about documenting a day in your life right now – just do it! Take those pictures and tell those stories. You will be glad that you did. I know I am!

If you have any questions, please feel free to comment below. I love hearing from you guys! You can also find me on Instagram @denine2  and YouTube @Denine2

Happy storytelling, my friends!

December Daily® 2025 | DIY Envelope Tutorial

Hello everyone. It's Kelly Ishmael here and in this tutorial I am sharing instructions for creating DIY envelopes using the digital version of the December Daily® Envelope Bundle.

There are two basic options to create the envelopes using the digital versions: 1) a manual method which involves printing the designs on cardstock and cutting out and assembling the pieces and 2) using an electronic cutting machine (like a Silhouette or Cricut) with your own cardstock or patterned paper and then assembling. I'll be demonstrating both methods, but either way, you'll need some basic supplies to get started.

Supplies
Cardstock (for demonstration purposes I am using 8.5x11 65lb White Astrobrights Cardstock for the manual method and 12x12 Bazzill Cardstock for the Silhouette version)Scissors, Craft Knife, and/or Paper Trimmer Adhesive (rolling or sticky tape) Hole Punch Vellum (not pictured) for Frame Envelope Optional: Scoring Board and/or Bone Folder

Manual Method

To get started, print all of your envelope pieces onto the cardstock of your choice. (Please note that when setting up your print job we recommend NOT using a borderless printing option to preserve the original envelope design dimensions.) Next, cut out the pieces using scissors, craft knife, or paper trimmer (or any combination).

Note: We have updated the download file with a printable version of the envelope pieces as well as an updated version of the FaLaLa pocket.

All of the envelopes basically consist of two parts - a base and a front pocket with tabs that will fold and adhere to the backside of the base.

You can follow along in the process video below to see how I assemble each of the envelopes.

Note: in the video I said to place the printed pink side down for the frame envelope, but meant to say to have the pink side facing out.

I love how by using some very basic tools you can create a fun, interactive element to add to an album.

Silhouette Method

In the download file, we have also included basic templates and Silhouette cutfiles if you would prefer to use an electronic cutting machine to create your envelopes. Unfortunately, the ‘Print and Cut’ functionality isn’t an option since most of these designs are larger than the margins required for the registration marks used with most home printers. But we wanted to include these options if you would like to create envelopes using your own patterned paper or cardstock.

In the process video below I am demonstrating how to set up the Silhouette workspace to cut out the green scallop envelope. In addition, I am also including instructions for setting up the foil quill to add the gold foil detail along the scalloped edge. The basic process of using the trace and cut feature is the same for all of the envelope pieces, and once you have your pieces cut out the assembly process is the same as the manual method.

Silhouette Settings (for reference):

Foil Quill

Passes - 1Force - 25Speed - 4

Cut

Blade Depth - 3Passes - 1Force - 32Speed - 4

Note: Be sure to allow 10-15 minutes for the foil quill to heat up before using.

Please let me know if you have any questions. The envelopes are a new digital offering this year and we hope that you enjoy being able to use these files to create your own envelopes to hold all of special December photos and stories.

Day In The Life 2025™ | Special Guest Jen Wong

Hi, friends! I’m super happy to be here sharing my 2025 Day In The Life process and completed album. I documented earlier in the month on October 2nd, which I chose because it was a perfectly average day, and I knew it would highlight the routines of my family’s life right now.

For the documenting day, I set timers on my phone to remind myself to take a photo and write something down every hour. I’m on my computer a lot during the day for work so this worked out well. Later in the day when I was away from the computer, I quickly jotted notes down on my phone and used my phone camera.

I love to keep this project really simple, because then I have a much better chance of finishing it! I’ve done it in a variety of ways over the years, from a 1 page spread in my Project Life album, to small mini albums. This year, I was again looking for something quick and easy. I’ve been into making mini albums lately and made an easy accordion fold one, using one 12” x 12” sheet of scrapbook paper.

To make the base of the mini book, you’ll need one 12” x 12” piece of paper. I chose a lighter weight paper, knowing that I would be covering each of the pages and I didn’t want each page to feel too thick. The paper I chose also has a pattern on one side but again, the pattern doesn’t matter too much since I covered all of the pages. (I just wouldn’t choose any loud or clashing colors since you may be able to see a bit of the pattern in the seams of the book.)

You can watch me put together the base of the album in the video, but here is a diagram showing the scoring and cut lines.

The yellow dashed lines show the direction that the pages should be folded along.

This booklet only allows for six full pages and since I wanted eight to use up all of the journaling cards, I added two additional pages by cutting two 4” x 6” pieces of copy paper, scoring down the middle at 3”, folding them over, and gluing them to each end of the booklet. This gives me exactly 8 spreads.

I went through my photos from the documenting day and selected eight which told some of the stories of the day. These were all printed at 3” x 4” with a white border. I don’t have the physical kit so I am using the digital version and my project is entirely hybrid. Using the digital journaling cards, I added my notes about the day onto them and printed them out.

I planned to embellish simply, just using one colored embellishment that matched the color of the journaling card that I added to my photo. The nice thing about using the digital kit is that I was able to resize and recolor some of the pieces to make them match the photos better!

For the cover, I used the dot background of one of the papers in the kit, turned it to black and white, and printed the dots onto vellum. I cut 3” x 4” pieces of this out and adhered them to the front and back pages. I added the “it’s just one day” circle from the paper (recolored to blue) and the 2025 pink chipboard element to the front.

You can watch me talk through my plan and put the entire album together in the video below.

Here are all of the pages in my album.

I may tie a ribbon around the entire album to keep it closed.

I just love how this little mini album turned out! DITL does not need to be a complicated or time-consuming project and you can totally do it! It’s so much fun to look back on these.

I hope I was able to inspire you! You can find more from me on IG (@circleplusarrow).

Day In The Life 2025™ | Special Guest Elizabeth Alvite

Hi everyone! This is Elizabeth. Today I'm sharing my process of documenting a Day in the Life using the new Day in the Life 2025 digitals.

This project is one of my favorites to document. I love slowing down my day to capture the mundane ordinary moments, step back, document it, then see the true delights from each day.

Year to year I like to flip through these days I document to see what changes there were and what I was focusing on that day. I always think about how different my future ones will look.

Since I work full-time, dedicating a lot of time to any project is out of the picture. I always make projects that not only allow me to be creative but also don’t over complicate the process so I can achieve the style I am aiming for, and at the same time doing the project and having fun with it.

In this project, I am using the following materials:

Traveler’s notebook - graph paper Day in the Life 2025 mini kit - digitals Matte transparent sticker paper (I love Avery brand) Ink pad and stamp block of choice A bold alpha stampWashi tape (I choose 4 styles to repeat on each spread)

Let’s start the project off by selecting our photos and uploading them to our desired
editing program - I love Canva!

In this video, I am showing you how I use the Canva app to upload my photos. I make a folder in the Projects tab where I make individual folders by the month and year and upload my photos to each folder.

In this video, I show you how it looks from my perspective editing in Canva. I love to use 4x6” project boards as when I download them to print, I print them on my Epson Picturemate PM-400 and cut down my matte transparent sticker paper (Avery brand) and then cut out each piece individually.

Here you will see me put the project together and a flip thru of the final project. I love using the alpha stamp to emphasize a keyword. In one of my spreads I use the Spanish word ‘bigote’ which means moustache to document one of my favorite products I use each morning.

For the washi, I selected only 4 styles so I can keep repeating it on each spread.

Here you have a visual of my spreads for my project.

I had a lot of fun putting together with minimal effort but maximum creativity. Happiness achieved!

You can see more of my work on Instagram and YouTube.

Day In The Life 2025™ | Special Guest Jill Drangsholt

Hi friends! Jill here. For my Day in the Life documenting day, I chose Saturday September 27th. I chose that day because my son was going to be here and I thought since it was not a busy day that I'd have plenty of time to take photos throughout the day. It did not exactly turn out that way!

I should not be surprised that I wanted to relax and not worry about photo taking in the morning and also not take away from my evening with my son by taking sneaky photos of us. So my documenting ended up only being from about 9am to 4:30pm. And I am 100% okay with that! The finished project still shows a great glimpse of our weekend day with plenty of photos. I officially give you permission to choose whatever documenting window works for you!

PRE DOCUMENTATION PAGE SET UP:

I created this transparency title page because I wanted a way to use the transparency and the chip board since my simple page protector layout did not leave much room for extra embellishments. I sewed a piece of green patterned paper (from the Watercolor Scrapbook Kit) to the top of the transparency to make my page 12 inches tall and then adhered 4 of the chipboards stacked on top of each other. I staple two of them on so that the bottom one did not show adhesive on the back.

On the back of my title page, I cut out the top of the prompt page and adhered it onto another piece of that green paper along with a September tab from my stash.

FINAL PROJECT WALK THROUGH:

See how my final project came together and hear a bit about my photos in the video below.

For most of my DITL projects, I have put the whole project in a single page protector using only 3x4 pockets. I find this layout to be simple to put together and it also simplifies my photo taking knowing that I need only vertical shots. In the past I have used the Design F Project Life page protector, but this time I decided to try Ali's 9x12 with all 3x4 pockets. This will give me room for all 8 journal cards and 10 photos. Perfect!

To embellish these pages, I chose to staple glitter silver stars (from my December Daily stash) to the inside of the zeros on the cards and then add a few word phrase stickers from the kit to just the center photos on each side. I did not feel the need to embellish further than that and love the simplicity of it!

Here are full photos of the front and back of my final project:

Thanks for joining me on my Day in the Life Adventure! You can follow along with my other crafting adventures on Instagram (@jill.drangsholt).

TENTATIVE 2025 PROJECT + PRODUCT SCHEDULE NOW AVAILABLE

Earlier this year on the blog Ali shared our 2025 project schedule. Recently we've been encountering some unexpected delays in manufacturing which is inviting us to be more fluid in our release/project scheduling (the reason why we've been holding off on sharing a more concrete schedule). Head there now for our rough schedule and a few general notes. We’re excited about the year ahead! we do not have any information for 2026 as of yet! We will share those dates as soon as we have them.

OCTOBER DIGITALS

The first Friday of every month we have a new digital release available in the shop. That mean's travel digitals are available now!  Play with scale, recolor objects, add journaling, print multiples…the sky is the limit when playing with digitals. Shop digitals here

As always, we’re so grateful to have you all as members of this community! Thanks for joining me today and have a great weekend!
