S. M. Atherton is an indie fantasy author from the U.P. of MI. Some of her hobbies are swimming, exploring old forests, taking backroad drives to hidden places, and going on family adventures in her neck of the woods.

Her debut book Monsters, Relics, and Dangers Unknown (The Kollrheim Realms Chronicles) is an old story of her's that has been given new life.

Editorial review, U.P. Book Review:
"She wants to write about larger issues and life, heroes and heroines with swords and muscle and wit, absent all modern technology and problem-solving. I think this is a fine start for her Chronicles, and we look forward to the sequels. I think she has learned the sober sense of mission that a voyager must have, and I have great hopes for her to continue

Fantasy World Sneak Peek

As some may know, I have been busy working away on the second book of The Kollrheim Realms Chronicles. This week, I'd like to offer the chance to ask questions about the Kollrheim world! I will also share a bit here about the magic system, language, and fantasy creatures for those who have not read the book.

Kollrheim is a world of realms where anything is possible and discoveries are still being m Read more of this blog post »

“Everyone brings something to the world, Emerick. It is truly a shame when no one gets to see what your special something is. I guess that is the problem when you spend most of your life living in the shadows.”
S. M. Atherton, Monsters, Relics, and Dangers Unknown

“The alluring deep-sea dwellers sang an enchanting song and reached out with their dripping hands to draw the ship nearer. Sporley stood in a happy daze at the helm, with a look of passion that only his wife should have known, and mindlessly steered the vessel farther into the maze of rocks toward an obvious center. There was no way out except for where they came in.”
S. M. Atherton, Monsters, Relics, and Dangers Unknown

“The ceiling in the cavern of dirt was covered in slumbering vampire creatures. The outlines of their bodies were barely visible, but with every sleeping breath their hard jaws clacked and chattered like the sound of bones being rubbed together.”

“I find that some things are only humorous when said out loud rather than when they are penned on a scroll.”

“Emerick was a tormented sort of man. He had seen far too many battles and faced too many demons to rejoice like a fool after a difficult quest. His heart did not help in the matter, for it had a lonely hole in it that had been dug long ago.”
S. M. Atherton, Monsters, Relics, and Dangers Unknown

“Ya wretched worm!” Sporley yelled crazily. “I will not go down with this ship. You will have to eat me first, and I promise that I will not sit well! Hahaha!”
