Books You Should Check Out #1
I've decided to do this thing where I talk about books that I love and that I think you should check out. The first one I'm doing is my favorite trilogy, the Gods and Monsters Trilogy by Kelly Keaton.
Darkness Becomes Her
A Beautiful Evil
The Wicked Within
These are the three books that make up the trilogy. I found the first one last summer while I was browsing at Books A Million, and the title caught my eye. I sat down and began to read it, and I realized how much I loved the writing style. So, I decided to buy it, and I read it within a couple of days, falling madly in love with the story.
It was only a couple of months before I had the sequel in my hands, and I tore through that one like wildfire. Again, the story line was wonderful and captivating.
Sadly, I had to wait almost a year for the final book in the trilogy to come out. I was ecstatic when it showed up in the mail on Tuesday. I pulled it out of the package, sat down on the couch, and spent the next 5 hours reading it cover to cover, and then suffered a massive book hangover at the end.
The story follows 17-year-old Ari Selkirk on her search for answers about her ancestors and herself. Her searches lead her to find a message from her long-dead mother, telling her to run. She has no idea what it means, but her leads lure her into the city of New 2, what once used to be New Orleans, but was given up by the United States government after being wiped out by two hurricanes. Now it's rumored to harbor all things that go bump in the night. While she's there, she continues to hear people talk about who she is and what she's capable of, and she wants to know these answers herself. However, she's not sure she can handle it once she knows. This may be a bigger answer than she can possibly handle, leading her and her new friends to danger.
And, that's just the first book. All three of them have a very refreshing, realistic feel to them, even for a fantasy novel. Ari isn't a typical damsel in distress. She can fight for herself. The story mainly follows her quest for answers and the action that it involves, but there's an undertone of romance that occasionally becomes the focal point.
Pick up these books and give them a try. They're my absolute favorite for a reason. I cannot get over how wonderful they are. Kelly Keaton is a truly talented author. I'll read these stories over and over again.

I'm Terrible at This Game
I'm awful at trying to keep up with my social media outlets. This is why I will never be successful at marketing my books, and why I should never expect to be successful in that respect. I can never remember to upset my Facebook page every day, or to get on Twitter and tweet fans, and I never got the tumblr to take off.
This is just another failed social media outlet, it seems.
Though, if you're here reading this, I suppose it proves I'm not entirely a fail. So, thanks for that. For being here and reading this. For caring enough about what I have to say. I'll try to remember to update this.
I told people on Miss Literati earlier this week that I plan to make a special announcement on October 19. Here's hoping that date doesn't get pushed back. I don't know how many people will be able to handle that without exploding.
As for future books, I have one in the works right now. This is the first time I've actually said anything about it to anyone, but I'm actually doubting a bit that anyone is even going to be reading this. However, if you are, cross your fingers with me that this thing picks up off the ground.
Sorry for my blog kind of dying, everyone! I'll try to update it more often!

One Week!
We're starting the countdown to Collide's launch on MissLiterati.com today. The celebratory week starts off with the first chapter of the book being released on the website again. (I wonder how many people realized that the first 37 chapters were still on Wattpad until tonight. I finally got around to taking those down... lazy me).
I'm trying to get people pumped up, but I'm wondering if I'm doing my job right. I guess I'll find out, won't I?
On another note, I'm not reading anything as of right now. But my day was made when I got my country-music loving teacher to play Black Veil Brides in class... and she LIKED it. It was pretty awesome. Someone asked me how listening to BVB doesn't give me nightmares. I had to laugh. He's clearly never heard Asking Alexandria or Motionless In White.

Just 9 Days Left
Can you believe it? Just 9 days left until my first ever book is released in print to the world. This is crazy. I'm here buying my prom dress, planning my graduation party, AND preparing to launch my debut novel. Not something the average teenager does, I guess. It's normal to me, since I've been working towards it for months, but that's a different story.
I'm not sure if this blog is going to be based more towards my writing, my life, or both. Maybe some sort of mix. I mean, half the reason people follow blogs is to stalk their owners, right? Maybe not.
I've been planning a lot of good ways to get people interested in my book, basically including a week-long "celebration" leading up to the launch. I tried to do a giveaway here on goodreads, but there came a bump in my plan. You can't list a giveaway unless your profile is public. Well, okay, I guess I can make my profile public. It's not the end of the world. I go and select public, and goodreads informs me that I can't make my profile public until I'm 18.
Well, thanks, goodreads. I guess since I'm a young author, I can't market my book like that. I'm just going to have to get creative with this. But, hey, I think I've got something good going for me.
Wish me luck c:
