Pink Snowbunnies in Hell Flash Fiction Anthology - call for submissions!

Sometimes a thing snowballs, and you just gotta roll with it. I posted a comment in a thread in my writer forum about "I think pink snowbunnies will ski in hell first". A couple of hours later, one of our great resident book cover designers replied with the graphic below.

Pink Snowbunnies In Hell

It deserves a book, don't you think?

So, in honor of ditching my day job, and not letting what is apparently my one great line and Glendon's greater graphic languish in obscurity in a writer forum grammar thread, I'm going to sponsor a Pink Snowbunnies in Hell Flash-Fiction Anthology.

I'll pay to turn the bunny into a cover, and for editing, and take care of getting it assembled, formatted, and published. All proceeds donated to a charity of the contributing authors' choosing (I'm thinking it will go up as a $0.99 anthology, so it's definitely not about the money).

Submission Guidelines:

1) Flash Fiction - 100-1000 words
2) Must contain some variation of the suddenly famous "pink snowbunnies will ski in hell" phrase
3) Given the cover, humor would be great, and PG13 unless there's a dang good reason for crossing that line
4) Entries will be judged by a panel of at least three judges (for the good of writer community relations, I think I'll be keeping them anonymous)
5) Entry deadline, June 15
6) Email submissions in Word .doc format to deborageary@gmail.com

I'm hoping this sounds like fun, and not too much work. To get a sense of whether this is going to fly, can you reply below if you think you might be interested in submitting? Also, I'd love to encourage aspiring authors to give this a try :).

Lindsay Powell awakens one bright Sunday morning to find her almost-ex-husband in bed beside her. Had she really been glad to see the cheating creep standing on her front porch last night? At that burst of insanity she should have called 911, requested she be declared mentally incompetent and locked up for her own protection.

While sleeping with the jerk feels like the absolute worst thing that could happen, that error becomes insignificant as Lindsay's life rapidly spirals downward into complete chaos and a near-deadly bout with the chocolate she loves… more

When Spacewatch Director Henry Jackson, using his revolutionary lunar laser ranger, suspects the largest asteroid in 65 million years will strike America during the 2012 presidential campaign, he must figure out how to save a skeptical public from mile-high tsunamis, pressure blasts, sterilizing heat, record earthquakes, and a trillion tons of falling molten rock called regolith. Facing global hysteria that cripples society, he ends up with only ten weeks to evacuate the entire country to special asteroid shelters his son built near the poles. Jackson, famous for his plans to launch capsules from the highest point on Earth; converting the largest near-Earth asteroid into a space port; mining $5 quadrillion worth of lunar helium3; soft-landing trillion-dollar metallic asteroids on the Moon; optimizing Mars; and bulking up and re-orbiting the 20 largest moons into Goldilocks orbits to allow humanity to grow to over 100 billion people, then loses his escape plane, stranding his family near Ground Zero, where they must improvise to survive.

Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold is a story of family conflicts set in Colorado in 1885. Anne Wells has embarrassed her rigidly proper family since she was a child with occasional but grievous lapses from ladylike behavior. They blame those lapses for the disgraceful fact that she is a spinster at 28. Cord Bennett, the son of his father's second marriage to a Cheyenne woman, is more than an embarrassment to his well-to-do family of ranchers and lawyers - they are ashamed and afraid of their black sheep. When Anne and Cord are found alone together, her father's fury leads to violence. Cord's family is more than willing to believe that the fault is his. Can Anne and Cord use the freedom of being condemned for sins they didn't commit to make a life together? Or will their disapproving, interfering families tear them apart?
