Jaye is the award winning and bestselling Australian author of five psychological thrillers. I just finished reading Blood Secret, the third book of yours I have read. Loved it, thank you. I love reading about my local area and I relate so much better to the story if I can picture the surroundings. What town was Haven Bay based on? Till half way through I thought it was Wangi, but no. Or Coal Point, wrong again. I have lived in Swansea most of my life and sailed the lake many times, such a beautiful place.

If you know Wangi, you'll know the gun emplacements are quite where I put them and a few other details. I've lived by the lake for years also and decided it was time to write a book set there. When I was looking at where, a friend who lives in Wangi walked me around and it was so lovely and creepy that I couldn't resist using it. I had it bad a couple of years ago and I tried to push through but the writing was terrible and made me feel worse. Finally, I took a break, read lots of other people's books - good books that fed my imagination - and got back to it. I tried not to think about deadlines or editing or how good or bad the words were and just tried to get down story. Style and finesse and rewriting came later ... and finally it became Darkest Place!
