“If humans stopped worrying so much about the cute appearance and ‘breed pureness’ of puppies, the resulting canine population would be healthier, and the dogs would be happier too.” — PETE WEDDERBURN,”
Zazie Todd, Wag: The Science of Making Your Dog Happy

“Unfortunately, when people use outdated methods to train dogs, perhaps because they don’t realize science recommends reward-based methods, they are using methods that rely on fear and pain. It’s just a tap, a correction, or information, they say. But prong collars, choke collars, leash corrections, electronic collars, and alpha rolls (rolling the dog on their back and holding them there until they stop moving) work because they are painful or fearful for the dog. These are aversive methods.”
Zazie Todd, Wag: The Science of Making Your Dog Happy

“Whereas humans are said to hear a range from about 20 to 20,000 hertz, dogs hear much higher frequencies, from about 67 to 45,000 hertz.”
