Manuel Gare nació en Granada en 1995, unos meses antes de que salieran los primeros juegos de Pokémon. Empezó a escribir en blogs de internet cuando iba al instituto, y a los diecinueve se metió a periodista cultural para sacarse unas pelas mientras estudiaba ingeniería informática. Durante la pandemia hizo un máster en literatura inglesa, en 2022 publicó su último reportaje en prensa y en 2023 lanzó Macho, un ensayo sobre sexo, poder y trabajo. Ha trabajado para editoriales, agencias de publicidad, festivales y artistas, y desde hace unos años forma parte del equipo de Manga Barcelona, que en 2024 recibió la Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes.
