YA Spring Fling Author Interview with Faith McKay
Unless you've been living under a rock, you might have noticed me banging on about the YA Spring Fling happening from the 20th March to the 3rd April. The reason for that is, it's going to be epic!! There are over 100 different books for readers to win, and over 70 authors. Today I'm talking to Faith McKay, one of the YA authors participating in the giveaway. Faith is the author of Prophecy Girl (a title I really love - hello Buffy episode) an awesome paranormal read with a girl who has a lot of questions about the strange things happening around her. Check out Faith's interesting interview:What’s your favourite thing about spring?Pretty, pretty flowers! And the grass at the park has some days where it's dry, which means I can throw a blanket outside and read a book.Tell us more about your books.Prophecy Girl is a story about sticking up for yourself, and how sometimes, it's easier to stick up for other people. And also, it's a story about werewolves, and prophecies, and magical orbs, and the seasonals—a supernatural race that I created for this series—and destined love. It's a quirky paranormal story with a heavy dose of contemporary issues.Coffee or Tea?Neither! Which makes me such a weird book person, I know. I like water, and juice.Plotter or Pantser? Both. It depends on the project. What was the last YA book you read?Fall of Night, by Rachel Caine, number 14 in the Morganville Vampires series. There are only fifteen and I'm dreading reading that because then the series will be over and as much as I always want to know how it ends, I hate when it does. Why do you write YA?I've thought about this a lot and have a lot of different answers. Maybe it's because, like I said above, I hate endings, and being a young adult is really all about the beginning. Or maybe it's because so many adults I've met have already chosen their path, and are so stuck in that path they are unwilling to try new things, and so much is new when you're a young adult that they haven't penned up those boundaries. Or maybe it's because adults were always so condescending when I was a teenager, like teenagers had nothing to offer the world, and I'm stuck on insisting that they are people, people who are capable of amazing things.I think there's too many reasons, or maybe the truth is I just don't know. I just know I like it.What are your top tips for surviving a zombie apocalypse?I could tell you all of these serious things about how it's not just all about weaponry, but about surviving the elements in that type of situation (who cares if you can hack off a head if you die from dehydration?) BUT in light of my current work in progress, about an all girl pop band fighting zombies, I'm going to have to say chainsaws, and lip gloss. The end. What inspires you?Everything. :)Where can readers find your books?Hello lovely readers! You can find Prophecy Girl, and its sequel Liberty Bound, on Amazon.http://www.amazon.com/Faith-McKay/e/B... you for stopping by, Faith! If you would like to find out more about the authors participating in the YA Spring Fling, J.E. Taylor is interviewing Sibel Hodge on her blog today. Click HERE. Keep following the blog hop to read more from our authors. Tomorrow interviews will be featured on Eleanor Beresford and KC Neal's blogs. To be guaranteed at least one free Ebook sign up to the mailing list HERE.Don't forget to stop by from the 20th (on my website right here!) to be in with a chance of winning some of these books. :) Good luck everyone!

Inspiring Blogger Nomination - Seven Things About Me
Thank you to Anya Allyn for this nomination! Anya is the author of Dollhouse, which I have to tell you is really freaking awesome! Thank you to Anya Allyn for this nomination! Anya is the author of Dollhouse, which I have to tell you is really freaking awesome! Anya has a thing for dipping chips (french fried for all non-UK people) into ice cream, which sounds equal pats gross and delicious! My seven interesting facts!1. I read all different kinds of books from Gothics from the Victorian period, to teen books about first love, to fantasy books to classic literature. The last book I read was a Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, before that it was The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson, and before that it was The Woman who Rides like a Man by Tamora Pierce.2. It's a blizzard outside my house right now!3. While I never have a shortage of ideas for books and stories, I go through phases where writing is very difficult. I procrastinate a LOT and I sometimes have trouble concentrating. If I didn't spend so much time procrastinating, I would probably write books a lot faster!4. I've watched every episode of Buffy and Charmed at least twice. I blame them on my love of the supernatural now. Also - TV these days just isn't as good. :)5. I'm a writer who doesn't drink coffee. I'd rather have a very cold glass of water or a very big mug of hot chocolate. 6. I really, really hate public speaking. I'm quite shy and awkward. One of the things I love about self-publishing is that I can interact with people via the internet and not be made to go to public events by a publisher/agent. It suits me just fine! Although at some point I would like to be brave enough to try conventions and book signings. :)7. Up until a couple of years ago I had absolutely zero confidence in my writing. I thought that because I didn't write prose as well as Nabokov, or characters as well as Salinger, or stories as well as Atwood that I didn't have anything to say. My, how I was wrong. When i finally got over it and started writing my first novel I found what was missing in my life. It's never too late to start a new hobby, career, or dream!Seven Inspiring Bloggers:1. Opinionated Cupcakes - http://opinionatedcupcakes.blogspot.c... I love these gals! Rinny and Kimmy write reviews, mostly for YA books. They've been amazing at supporting my books in the past. Kimmy has read and reviewed pretty much all of them. You rock! 2. Apocalypse Reads - http://apocalypsereads.blogspot.co.uk... out to Rebecca! I think she was the first person to read The Blemished after my betas. Without people like Rebecca at Apocalypse Reads taking a chance on a new author, people like me wouldn't be able to follow their dreams. Thank you!3. Shalini Boland Author - http://someonewotwrites.blogspot.co.u... dystopia and paranormal writer extroadinaire! Add blogging for The Guardian to that list! 4. Just One More Chapter - http://www.justonemorechapter.net/Zap... Marie and her awesome reviews!5.
