Herbert Ausubel Our newest book, the 4th in the series Collectively titled "The Other Guests: Chronicles of a People" is "The Music". It tells the story of Stephanie Ausubel's father's ancestral family who began as klezmerin playing Jewish music in the 19th century. One member of the family, Mikail Josef Guzikow started as a flutist. But he Developed tuberculosis and the coughing prevented him from playing the flute and so he Developed a new instrument, the strollfiedel (ancestor of the modern xylophone, He composed all the music he performed and became famous all over Europe. His descendants came to America as they fled persecution in Europe. In the United States they became accomplished performers in many major orchestras. Stephanie's father performed in Walt Disney's first movie musical, "Fantasia." He toured the World as principal cellist with Toscanini.
