As a child I lived opposite a Norman Church. That, I think, was the start of it. The Norman tower was always there, outside the window. At school our history teacher had an interest in the period and, of course, there was that lovely book '1066 and all that'. So by the time I went on a family holiday to Normandy with my own children I was ready to be totally engaged by the Norman built structures and the Bayeux Tapestry. The similarities between Normandy and the farming way of life in Norfolk made me realise the depth of the connection. (less)

Shetland Noir

I'm forming into my complete crime author personage for Shetland Noir. Mary Bale and Pamela St Abbs will be turning up in the form of Pamela Palmer. I'm really looking forward to seeing the noir-goers. I will be blogging on the Crime Readers Website about the event.
