Authors, how do you define success? I love this quote from the late Maya Angelou: "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."

It’s Women’s History Month! Let’s remember Maria W. Stewart—one of the first Black women to have a publishing and public platform for women’s rights. Her words were bold and she was criticized for telling it like it “T—I— is.”

It’s Women’s History Month! Let’s remember Phillis Wheatley—the first Black woman to publish in America. She was a highly intelligent poet and writer, gaining notoriety for challenging Black inferiority. Phillis was successful, but ultimately lived in poverty due to racism and sexism. She died at the age of 31 in 1784.
