It’s Women’s History Month! Let’s remember Phillis Wheatley—the first Black woman to publish in America. She was a highly intelligent poet and writer, gaining notoriety for challenging Black inferiority. Phillis was successful, but ultimately lived in poverty due to racism and sexism. She died at the age of 31 in 1784.
