Hello everyone,
It is the day after the American Thanksgiving. Usually this is a day where extended family and friends come together and celebrate life together, but not this year. We had dinner just among our household. My wife made the sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and Brussel Sprouts. My daughter made some heavenly rolls from scratch and pumpkin pudding. While my job was the turkey, stuffing, and gravy. I must say we make one good cooking team. Three of us jammed into our small kitchen producing a magnificent meal.
I prefer stuffing or dressing. The only difference is the stuffing goes into the bird and dressing bakes in a separate dish in the oven. A lot of people do not like stuffing because it dries out the turkey. The problem is that by the time the stuffing reaches 165 degrees F., the bird is on its way to 200 degrees. Thus a dry turkey. You can avoid this problem by filling the turkey with stuffing that is already 165 degrees or more. You want the stuffing as hot as possible when entering the cavities. This way when the meat reaches perfect doneness, the stuffing is also in the safe zone from the bugs inherent with poultry.
I mentioned cavities in the plural. I stuff the usual cavity between the legs where the organs used to be and under the skin left over from the neck. This way people eat all the stuffing from the primary opening and I have a secret stash of stuffing from the neck area to save for the next day. Another secret from an old cook revealed.
My editor return The Fighting Son to me this week. I liked all the changes except for chapter nine. Apparently, I did not make the intentions of this chapter clear and the editor didn’t like it. She changed it to make sense for her but it lost the meaning of the chapter. So I spent this week rewriting chapter nine to make clear what it should say.
The Six Loves of Jack Brown is on sale until Sunday, November 29, 2020. The sale price is 99 cents for the E-book. This is a great deal for a book getting good reviews. Recently received another review where she said, “Not a romantic, always having sex love story, but a story of real, long term love!” This is the best summery of the book yet.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Hello everyone,
I write letters to the editor for our local newspaper. Most of which deal with economics because I am just that nerdy. While some people collect stamps, I like economics. My moniker for writing the letters is The Recreational Economist. On Wednesday, we lost one of the best economic minds of the twentieth century, Dr. Walter Williams. Some economist like to show their intelligence by using big words and making new ones. Dr. Williams showed his intelligence by explaining complex ideas in the simplest and understandable words. His understanding of our economy will be sorely missed.
This week went by fast with several surprises. The best was the new cover for The Fighting Son. It has the general motive of the first two book covers but uniquely Rod and his personality. It sent back the revisions for the artist and should have it within the week. If interested, you can be a beta reader and see an advance copy in PDF from. Send a note to Dannymac@dannymacauthor.com.
My daughter and I set the Christmas lights this year as usual. It is a daddy daughter tradition. Although, in recent years, she has taken the lead on the placement of the lights. I was her helper this year as she was the one climbing the ladder and hanging the lights. She still relied on my expertise in the power source but other than that, it is her creation.
The other day I got home from running errands and my wife had chicken breast thawing on the counter. “What’s this” I ask.
“For Chicken Parmesan” she said with a hopeful smile.
“You are making us Chicken Parm tonight, great.”
As it turns out she wanted me to make Chicken Parmesan and I did. This time, I mixed the parmesan into the bread crumbs with some basil. It turned out excellent and would suggest it to all my readers.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Hello everyone,
Another week has passed and my house celebrated my birthday on Wednesday. My favorite daughter was going to make oatmeal scotch cookies but Christmas plans took priority. Thus the life of a child born in December. When asked what I want for Christmas, I always answer to remember my birthday is in December. My cookies should be baked today.
Mentioning I have a favorite daughter might raise an eyebrow or two. I admit, I do have a favorite daughter. In fact, she is my favorite child. I spoil her to that extend over and above other children. Did I mention, there is but one child in our family? Yes, she is an only child there by making her my favorite. When she brings home good grades or picks on her mother, she is my child. When she argues with her parents or presents us with trouble, she is her mother’s daughter. However, my wife claims it in the other direction.
I have been trying to find the right genre for my flying series books. It is a Christian Fiction and contains fantasy and sci-fi but cannot call them Fantasy or Sci-fi because they really don’t fit the modern reader that way. Magical Realism best fits the stories because they take place in a real setting and carry supernatural elements to them and offers social advice to the world. However, very few knows what Magical Realism is and appreciate the genre. So, I am going to sell them under Christian Fiction with a fantasy twist. I am hoping this brings readers to these stories.
The Fighting Son is waiting cover design. I received several concepts and in the process of refining one of them. If anyone like to pre-read (Beta) this book, contact me via email and I will send a PDF version.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Friday 12/18/2020 Merry Christmas
Hello everyone,
Another week has passed and I finally got my birthday cookies on Sunday. My favorite daughter wasn’t able to bake them until then. She had finals and deemed them more important than my cookies. I couldn’t argue with that point but told her next year have her college change finals to a week that doesn’t include my birthday. My teenage daughter laughed at my dad joke.
We have a dog named Ginger. We brought her home from the pound with the name of Honey. My wife calls me and my daughter Honey so this was very confusing to our new dog. Ginger does have a ginger color to her and so the name stuck. Check my web page for a picture of her. (Dog tax)
While traveling down the steps, Ginger likes to zoom past me. I will hear her coming and move to a side so she has room to go down the steps without crashing into me. However, whichever side I choose, she chooses the same causing more problems. Then one day I decided to go down the middle and this confused her. Now she waits at the top of the steps until I am completely down because she runs every where she goes.
The Fighting Son is waiting cover design. I have been working on a collection of short stories since I began writing twenty years ago. This past week I started putting them in book format. I came up with the name The Collectanea Merriam-Webster defines Collectanea collected writings or literary items forming a collection. It is Latin derivative. Some of the stories are in first person as if they are telling a story to friends and others are classic fiction stories. Both ways, they reflect who I am as a person and Godly intent is through them all.
If you have read any of my books, please post a review on Goodreads and Amazon.

Friday 12/25/2020 Merry Christmas
Hello everyone,
My favorite daughter made Christmas cookies this week. I am in cookie monster heaven. There is a roast in the oven and the gifts are opened to another Christmas.
Christmas far too often becomes a gathering of family to celebrate together and rejoin as a family unit. However, this misses the point of Christmas. This is the day we set aside to remember God humbling himself to become one of us. He does not enter this Earth as a triumphant king, but a baby born into meager existence. He came to show us the way to join him in glory for all of eternity. Christ came as a teacher, profit, and king.
Christ taught us to rely on God as he relied on his Father. He taught in such a way that the haughty didn’t understand what he was saying. The humble not only understood, but rejoiced in his teaching.
As a profit, he was the ultimate model to live for God as he led a blameless life. Through his examples of living and dying for God, we can see how to live our life to serve God and our neighbors. He pointed out the wrong and highlighted the good in the world.
Jesus was born to be king and everything he did while on Earth prepared the way for his eternal reign in heaven. Furthermore, the path he blazed as king was cleared so that his followers may join him as he sits to the right hand of the Father.
Luke 2:8-14 “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Christmas Bonus
Friday 12/25/2020
Hello everyone,
So, dinner has been served and the dishes are almost cleaned. I had to rest with my back when started to hurt. Well I was washing the dishes, pots and pans from our Christmas dinner, I remembered our dog sitting from just outside the dining room staring at us. She had a look of a Dicken’s street urchin begging for food while not trying to be conspicuous about it. The sad tone of her expression was saying that her family only gave her crumbs from the table and she hadn’t had a full meal in weeks or maybe months. If she could speak, I am sure I would have heard in a very childlike voice, “Please sir, may I have a single bite of the roast you are partaking in?”
For the record, she eats every morning before coffee and breakfast for the humans. A second meal at four o’clock every afternoon. I can honestly say, she has never missed a meal in her seven years of life. Oh, she did get a Christmas treat, her afternoon meal included the meat dripping from the cutting board and some left over fat from a couple of plates. She has been out and now laying down dreaming doggo dreams.

Hello everyone,
I am ran out of Christmas cookies. It seems other people in the house have been eating them when I wasn’t looking because they went a lot faster than expected.
It is the New Year’s Day, the beginning of a new year. May the New Year bring you hope, joy and love.
Many people like to review the year for their accomplishments. However, this year, I will review my dog, Ginger and her great feats. During this year, she has warned us against 345 UPS trucks, 285 Fed Ex trucks, 160 Prime trucks, 52 times the trash truck, and 12 protections from the electrical meter reader’s car. We were safe all year in her eyes from these malicious vehicles.
In addition to the wicked means of transportation, there were countless times neighbors retrieving their mail made an aggressive and demonstrable motion while walking to their box. This also set her into protective mode and she let out her howling bark of a high soprano which makes everyone in the house jump to see the evil lurking among us.
She has made significant improvement in safety over the years. We used to have leaves that floated across our yard with the force to destroy our house and she has barked them into submission. Now, they know not to be so aggressive. There was a single robin with beady eyes and menacing beak terrorizing our yard until Ginger’s howl scared it away. It has been several years of freedom from that evil robin.
Ginger vows to keep us safe from all these evils in the upcoming year as she has in the past. She is most diligent in her protection of her family.

Hello everyone,
Christmas is past and a new year is upon us. Hopefully, 2021 is a better year. The only problem I see now is it is followed by 2022 (too, as in the second 2020).
I am a day late getting this week’s blog. Yesterday was a little busy and it slipped my mind until late evening. Being a morning person, I don’t do well in the evening. My wife and daughter are evening people and believe morning suck. Sometimes I wake with a song in my heart and it comes out in a quiet hum. This is met with a guttural growl that scares even the dog. So, I don’t make any noise before the first cup of coffee that even comes close to being pleasant. Happy wife, happy life.
This morning there is a bright light shining in our kitchen. I remember this brightness from the depths of my memory. I peek out the window to see the sky is blue and not the gray that northern Ohioans grow accustom to every January. I searched my memory and I remember the bright light is called sunshine. It has a very warming effect on the spirit once your eyes grow accustom to it.
I finished gathering short stories from the past twenty years and put them in book form. This new book has 56 thousand words. The stories cover everything from romance to heart break and humorous to heart breaking. They are stories about people trying to make through life. They are glimpses into their lives exposing an important moment to them and sharing them with the world. Look for this book in spring of 2021.
The Fighting Son is waiting on the final cover design. Then I can put the finishing touches on the book and order a proof. It is still on schedule for release date of January 31.
If you have read any of my books, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon.

Friday 01/22/2021 My Dog is a Karen pt. 2
Hello everyone,
Listening to stories about Karens, they are self-centered creatures believing the world revolves around them with a very short attention span. When something does grab their attention, they hang onto the glimmer of truth even though looking at the bigger picture, it is not true. This is my dog.
We have a bell for her to ring when she wants out. The other day while writing a chapter in my next book I hear the bell ring. I mosey down the stairs to her door and as I approach, mom moves upstairs. This catches her attention and she races away to see mom in the kitchen. I get back to where I was, catch the rhythm before the interruption, and then Bing Bing goes her bell. I get up and go to let her out and my favorite daughter moves from her room. Zoom up the steps the dog races to see her sister. Maybe she will drop a snack in the middle of the afternoon.
I become settled at my desk again and review where I was to begin writing again. Then a marvelous thought crosses my mind of a quick anecdote within the chapter. It is funny and witty while keeping with character of the people in the story. My fat fingers hunt and peck the keys with a flurry as the thought humorously leaves my brain. In the middle of this amazing segment, I hear Bing, Bing and I speed up my typing. However, my delay and the fact she put it off two times before, my dog has a full blown Karen attack and hits the bell five more times until she sees me coming down the steps.

Friday 05/07/2021: Happy Mother’s Day
Hello everyone,
It is Mother’s Day weekend all across America. My mother passed more than two years ago, but my wife gave birth to a beautiful daughter 18 years ago. This makes her a mother of our household. Our daughter prepared tamales for us on Wednesday which were very good. I suspect she will bake a cake or cupcakes this weekend in honor of her mother.
As for me, I will make something special for her on Mother’s Day because I like to stay in her good graces. For the past month she wanted pizza and I bought the ingredients this week. I have a thick crust recipe that is quite good. However, last time I made a thin crust in which we had no left overs. I think we will do thin crust again.
It takes a few hours for the dough to set up and it is an all-day event making pizza. It is worth the trouble because, I control the seasoning and toppings. It important to bake the thin crust on a ceramic surface and I have one at my disposal. The oven fires to 500°F. (260°C for my metric friends) and we can watch the pizza browning through the window.
My point to this blog is to point out the importance paying special attention for your mother on her day. It is easy to buy her something and she will most certainly smile for it. However, spend the time to do something special for her and it will fill her heart. Become engaged with her on Sunday and she will absolutely beam with joy over the time you spend with her.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world.
