How are my followers this week? I hope it was a good week for you.
I am still learning about marketing my book. I am thinking it is price too high for a first book. I am considering reducing the price by a dollar for both paperback and E-book. Still not sure if I am marketing my books correctly, but still pushing through it and trusting God for guidance.
The sales of the first two books have fallen off a little this week and sought new lines of promoting the books. Listening to one vlogger suggest Pinterest, I made a Pinterest account this week. Still navigating this new site while trying to learn the ins and outs of it. If you are on Pinterest come look me up at Danny Mac Author. I just noticed it appears my name is Mac Author. I will hyphenate it in the future.
Living in the country where the snow plows regularly take down your mailbox, I have to drive to post office and pick up my proof of The Genuine Daughter, the second in the flying stories. I have been advertising Halloween as the release date which gives me plenty of time to review before publishing unless I find something horribly wrong. Check out my FB, Pinterest, or Instagram page for the cover.
The third in the flying stories, The Fighting Son went to the editor this week. It usually takes two to three weeks to receive it back and another week or so to review their notes. I will keep you informed as to its release.
Hope you all have a good week of peace, joy and love in the Lord.

Hi everyone, especially those new to following me.
It was a very pleasant week. The temperatures were in the seventies, 22c to 24c for my friends using metric scale. We had just suffered through three weeks of cold rain and a little snow. I broke out my winter coat, long sleeve shirts, and went looking for my thermals. Then we had seven days of sunshine and was able to get the grass cut hopefully for the last time this year. Short sleeve shirts and short pants in November. When I was young and I see young people doing today of wearing shorts in November, but I am in my sixties and was able to do this. Yes, it was that nice. Now, we are preparing for the cold settling again this weekend.
I tried some new seasoning in my chicken fried steak this week. There are five living in the house and the cube steak comes in packages of two. Great lunch tomorrow, I thought. No, it must have been good because it was gone that night. Such is life of a good cook.
On the professional level, I am making new connections everyday trying to extend my brand out. I know from many years of selling there is a fine line between persistent and being a pest. Being still new to book marketing, I pray for forgiveness if I pass persistent and become a pest.
The Six Loves of Jack Brown is getting great reviews but not many sales. Everything I read suggest the sales will come as the reviews increase. Being the inpatient man I am, I am running a $.99 sales from 11/22/20 to 11/29/20 through Amazon.
The early review on The Genuine Daughter are looking good and I have twenty people doing reviews for The Nonentity. I am always looking for reviewers so if you are interested, PM me.
I hope this week is as pleasant for you as the sunshine was for me last week.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Hello everyone,
This week has gone by fast with a lot of things happening. Last Sunday, we lost power for an hour and it shorted our septic motor. Looks like we need a new one. Our state is recommending a slowdown in the economy and there is now a curfew from 10 at night to five in the morning, unless you are working. So my wife wanted to buy something for Christmas and she wanted my opinion. We went to Target for a new toaster oven and not even one minute into the store, she is looking at socks for our daughter. It was hard to keep her focused on the task at hand, but we were done in fifteen minutes. Now she is mad at me for ruining her shopping. That is why she doesn’t take me with her when shopping.
I have a collection of short stories for an anthology coming out in spring 2021. The working title is The Collectanea. Collectanea definition by Merriam-Webster is collected writings or literary items forming a collection. First defined in 1791, it comes from the Latin word collectaneus. For this book, it is a collection of short stories ranging from five hundred words to over four thousand words. The stories are assorted genres including humorous, tragedy, romance, caring, redemption, and sorrow. The stories are in first person narrative as if the speaker is telling the story over a cup of coffee or maybe around a fire pit with close friends. The storyteller has a personal stake in the story and reveals the events to the best of their memory.
I picked up a few more followers on Goodreads with increased the rating and reviews also. I am asking everyone to put their ratings on Amazon to help sales there. The give-away for The Genuine Daughter expires tonight at midnight Pacific Time and winners chosen tomorrow.
The Six Loves of Jack Brown will go on sale Sunday, November 22, 2020 for one week. The sale price is 99 cents for the E-book. This is a great deal for a book getting good reviews. One of my favorite comments is the reader likened it to reading Tuesdays with Morrie.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Friday 01/15/2021 My Dog
Hello everyone,
It has come to my attention this week my dog is a Karen. She believes the world revolves around her and she barks at anything that doesn’t agree with this thought. If she is sleeping and you make a noise or do something to disturb said sleep, she will groan and grumble. She believes anything left on the counter is hers for the taking including molecules of food left after cleaning. When someone tells her to stay off the counter she will give a small growl of disappointment followed by a look of why are we are denying her rights given by her authority to lick the counters. If I am in the bedroom getting dressed or sitting in the bathroom contemplating life’s struggles and don’t secure the door, she will rudely kick the door open and give a look of “How dare you” or “I never.” The only thing she has not done is ask for the manager, which she would do, if she could talk.
It been a quite a week in our house. My wife inherited my stomach problems and feeling the burn. So, we are on a bland diet until it is under control. This week specials include all sort of low fat foods with minimal seasoning and spices. I could make two dinners, one for her and one for the rest of us, but I am too lazy for that and eat bland as well. She is starting to feel better as we are trying to become more active in the winter months under Covid restrictions.
I started another book this week in the Flying People Series. It follows the three main characters as they use their powers to help other people with their usual problems and there are more unusual creatures from an alternative dimension require their supernatural ability. I am currently working on chapter two and hope to have it done by the end of summer. Pray for my ability to see the plot and characters clearly.
If you have read any of my books, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon.
God bless,
Danny Mac

Friday 02/05/2021 What is love?
Hello everyone,
The world revolves around love. What is love?
There are four types of love. First is the love from God. This is a reverent love. It is deep and concerns itself with all aspects of life and wellbeing. This best describes God love for the people. We should carry this love to one and other.
The second form of love is friendship. This is the love between friends and focuses on helping each other through life. This love wants a person to be with the other person in good times and bad. It remains even after many years of separation.
The third love is sibling love. This loves shows it best resolve in a young brother and sister. They fight with each other, argue constantly, and yet they cannot stand to be away from each other for more than five minutes. This love bonds people on a deeper level than can be imagined.
The fourth love is passion. This love is most prevalent in a young couple newly married. There is an urgent yearning to be with each other. In marriage, this love brings a young couple together so that the other loves may develop.
Without all four loves active, a marriage is suspect to failure. As time passes, passionate love wanes but the other three grow stronger. Passion never goes away, but it is no longer the driving force in a marriage. This is the old couple you see walking down a lane talking side by side.
Movies and books like showing off the passionate love because it is exciting and fun. I rather show all four loves in my writing. My protagonist love their spouses in this complete manner.
If you have read any of my books, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon.
God bless,

Friday 03/26/2021: Writer’s Life
Hello everyone,
I have four books published with two more in the works. I occasionally see other authors post about their writing habits. Then there are questions from new writers asking about commitment and other writing problems. This week’s blog is about my life as a writer. I am strange so you may not want to follow it, but I hope it helps inspiring writers.
I spend the weekend reviewing stories in my head. There are several plots floating about among other things in my life. I try to reason them down to one cohesive story and then verify it matches the rest of the book. Upon pondering the storyline, it will change and morph over the weekend.
Come Monday morning, it is time to write if the story seems complete in my head. Managing the first sentence is the hardest. Questions like: how do I begin, where do I begin, what should start this chapter, all boggle the mind. Usually, I change the first sentence at least once. Then the rest of the story streams out of my head.
Due to back issues, my sitting time is less than an hour and five hundred words is the norm. Sometimes if the muse is in me, I type out 1000 words but I pay for with tingly feet and a stiff back. It takes two hours recovery for every hour at the computer. By Wednesday or Thursday a new chapter adds to my next book. My current book has a plethora of demons and serpents with a dragon in sight. All the creatures killed by my God fearing heroes.
Fridays are for blogging which keeps me writing and forces me to be creative. During non-writing times, there is editing and advertising to keep me busy.
If you have read any of my books, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon.

Friday 05/14/2021: The Collectanea
Hello everyone,
Collectanea definition by Merriam-Webster is collected writings or literary items forming a collection. First defined in 1791, it comes from the Latin word collectaneus. This book is a collection of short stories ranging from five hundred words to over four thousand words. The stories are assorted genres including humorous, tragedy, romance, caring, redemption, and sorrow. Some of the stories are in first-person narrative as if the speaker is telling the story over a cup of coffee or maybe around a fire pit with close friends. The rest are the more traditional formats of short stories. Although not directly expressed in the telling, the stories come from a Gospel-centered perspective.
This past week filled my time with editing and rewriting a collection of short stories. I am changing the format of the stories from telling to showing it to the reader. An example is: “I went to the store” as opposed to, “I drove my 1972 Mustang to Target.” From there, I might change it further to “The Drive my 1972 Mustang to Target felt exciting and thrilling.” Again making it much more stimulating to the reader.
This is a tiring and tedious adjustment to my old collection of short stories. I started almost twenty years ago at writing short stories to improve my writing skills. Through the years, the wording changed to make them more readable without destroying the narrative of the story.
I am looking for volunteers to read and comment on my stories. If you would like to help an old math guy get better with writing, please email me at dannymac@dannymacauthor.com and I will arrange a PDF for you to read.
If you have read any of my books, please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon.

Friday 05/29/2021: Memorial Weekend
Hello everyone,
I missed the last Friday in May because several things came up yesterday. Memorial Day means a three day weekend for most working people. We in America set aside one day a year to pay homage to those losing their lives defending our country from enemies wishing to harm us. We call it Memorial Day and we should remember in a somber tone those giving their lives to protect us. Likewise, as we remember the individuals passing in defense of our country, a celebration of their life as the best remembrance.
When people hear celebration, most think of a carnival or festival event. However, celebration also means remembrance and salutation. Another word from my thesaurus is memorial which carries many of the same synonyms. It is good that we celebrate in a party atmosphere but we should also temper the revelry with tribute to the soldier forfeiting his or her life to keep us free from foreign invaders.
As I reached the age where most people think of me as an old man, I come to realize the Bible is about balance in your life. We reach the best balance when we rely on God. There are several passage about not straying left or right but remain in the middle and on course. This holds true for this weekend. It is not good to spend the complete weekend in merriment and likewise, nor is it good to spend it mourning those who gave up their lives in service for our country. Celebrate the life of the missing soldier with a balance of joy and sorrow while keeping God in your life.

07/09/2021: Still Hurting, Getting Better
Hello everyone,
Finishing my fourth week of shingles, I still ingest ibuprofen for the pain. The internal pain creates sleepless nights but slumber fills most of the dark hours. The rash looking like a red scare and will dissipate with time. The exterior skin often feels pin pricks and itchiness. Overall, a numbness starts on my stomach and progresses to the back around the left side. Lifting anything over ten pounds causes the pain level to spike.
This week brought the first time since acquiring shingles, I worked on new books. I finished editing my collection of short stories and looking for a beta reader. If interested, email me at dannymac@dannymacauthor.com. This book still requires professional editing, but the stories are ready to read.
Two months ago, the fourth book in the Flying People Series passed initial writing. Now comes the countless edits by me to refine the story and fix the language. This process takes twice as long as writing the first version. Bear with me for the newest of my fantasies.
Finally, I want to thank my wife for picking up the slack for the past month while shingles all but stopped me participation in household chores. She is the help mate God promised me.
The Genuine Daughter is $.99 until July 15, 2021.

07/16/2021: My Crazy Dog
Hello everyone,
Finishing my fifth week of shingles, I still ingest ibuprofen for the pain but not as many. The internal pain decreases every day. Sleep comes more efficiently. Motion still causes the pain to increase but I am doing more every day.
Ginger is a redhead with a mind of her own. She is our resident fur baby with four paws, a long tail, and floppy ears that sometimes stand straight out. This morning while my wife took the trash to the street, she wants out on the other side of the house. She does her business then strains the leash around to see mom. However, mom finishes, comes back inside, and returns to the bedroom. Not seeing mom, she bangs at the door urgently wanting back into the house.
She races up the first set of stairs and to the front windows. She hopefully peers out the window to see mom but she is gone. She races to the kitchen door leading to the garage, no mom. Then another torrent to the front windows, still no mom in sight. She dashes to the back door with frenzy worry. With her head cocked to one side, she stops, listens, and no mom. Her nails scrape along the tile floor in another sprint to the front windows looking for her long-lost mother.
I call out to my wife to call for her fur baby and I hear “Really?” booming down the stairs. In mid-stride, Ginger stops, her ears perk up, and she hightails it up the stairs to the bedroom. There she gives mom kisses and cuddles from missing so much from the eternity of her five-minute absence.
Did I mention, she is a Karen. Yesterday she on the deck when I appear in the kitchen. She noses the door to come into the house. I open the door and let her pass inside. There she takes a quick walk around my legs and as the door closes, she noses to go back outside.
