1989 yılında bir anlamlama süreci olarak sinema ve seyirci ilişkisi üzerine yazdığı tezle doktora derecesi aldı. Yerli ve yabancı dergi ve kitap derlemelerinde Yeşilçam sinemasında kolonyal söylem, ses ve beden, Hollywood’un Türkiye’de alımlanması, Amerikan filmlerinin Türkiye’de dağıtımı, gösterimi ve sansürlenmesi üzerine yazıları yayımlandı. Miyase Christensen ile Shifting Landscapes: Film and Media in European Context adlı kitap derlemesini hazırladı. Son yıllarda, daha çok Türk sinema tarihi ve tarihyazımı, sinemanın İstanbul’a gelişi, 1890’ların sonu ve 1900’ların başında İstanbulluların sinema deneyimi üzerine proje çalışmaları yürüttü, makale ve bölümler yazdı, ulusal ve uluslararası konferanslarda bildiri verdi. 19. yüzyıl sonları ...more
