This story is a blend of mystery, horror, and emotional truth—where rural myths bleed into reality, and the past refuses to stay buried.
If you enjoy suspense grounded in character, secrets that unravel slowly, and a creeping sense of dread… this one’s for you.
If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear your thoughts or see your review. And if you haven’t, I hope you’ll take a chance on The County.

Oh, Fate!
Let's delve into the intricate dance of fate and free will, a narrative that echoes through the corridors of my own life and the pages of my stories. As a writer, I find myself pondering the age-old question: Are we destined for certain paths, or is there more to the story than meets the eye?
Consider the tragic tale of Oedipus Rex, a king condemned to fulfill a horrifying prophecy. His futile attempts to escape fate only sealed his tragic destiny. Is our reality similarly predetermined, or can free will alter the script of our lives?
Psychologists term the haunting feeling of learned helplessness that follows repeated failures. It's that persistent voice whispering, "Why bother?"
This existential struggle mirrors the journey of a character in my recently completed novella (Hevel). Venturing beyond the familiar, he sought something more, only to meet a tragic end. The narrative provokes a crucial question – was it nobler for him to strive for a better life, even if it ended in tragedy, or should he have clung to the comfort of familiarity? This is not a black-and-white query. Perhaps fate dealt him a difficult hand, but were there choices he made that sealed his destiny?
Now, dear reader, I turn the question to you. Is it nobler to strive for something better, even if it carries the weight of risk, or is there a certain comfort in accepting one's lot in life? Your thoughts, like the intricate threads of fate, add depth and nuance to this ongoing exploration of destiny and choice. Share your reflections, whatever they may be.
