Interesting book, lots of twists and turns. Thought the title of the book would give away the ending, but nice final twist. Nice to dwell in a well written different culture with interesting characters.

Good read, magic school novels seem to be in vogue, aka Katabasis. A lot about ego and teachers thinking they are infallible, being brought back to earth.

That was a great surprise. Really enjoyed it. Surprised it didn’t win the Hugo for Novella that year. Interesting characters. Enjoyed the world of life around Jupiter and how we might live there. Interesting detective story.

Good take on sleeping beauty, would have expected an extra twist or two from Kingfisher, but still a good book.

Some good ideas in this book, which got off to a good start. But parts got too mystical without any explanation and not sure if most of the upper class could be so nice and ignorant.

Interesting tale. Suspect with gunpowder and guns that the forest isn’t going to last long inspite of its magical qualities. Sort of a rather dark children's fairy tale, but then most are. ...more

Story started a bit slow, just seemed like a historical period piece. Where’s the fantasy, but then things got very dark fast. Worth waiting for the twist.
