M. K. Aleja is a CHamoru and Mexican American author whose fiction draws on the history, legends, and spiritual traditions of the Mariana Islands. Born and raised on Guam, he writes paranormal thrillers, historical paranormal fiction, and mythic fantasy that bring CHamoru stories and perspectives to readers both within and beyond the islands.

His work explores the connections between legend, history, cultural memory, and the supernatural, often asking what may have been lost, changed, or misunderstood as stories passed through generations and centuries of colonization. Across his books, Aleja is building a shared spiritual world inspired by CHamoru cosmology, folklore, and the stories he grew up hearing.

I also love introducing readers who know very little about the Mariana Islands to CHamoru people and culture through fiction.
