Born with a rare distinction of having two birthdays Somaweera Senanayake (සොමවීර සේනානායක) has established a unique reminiscence in the minds and hearts of Sri Lankans as an artist who cares for the goodwill of the society. Being a maestro in both print and electronic media he excelled as a journalist, creative writer, author and a lecturer. Somaweera was awarded the State Literature Award for the Best Novel on three occasions and once he received the State Literature Award for the Best Book for Children.
