New Photograph of Engelbertha Krupp Stroebele emerges in 2025

A new photograph of “The Cannon King’s Daughter” Engelbertha Krupp Stroebele has emerged seemingly from a Getty Images website some 15 years after the release of David Stroebel’s 2010 book The Cannon King’s Daughter. The title of the photograph is Alfred Krupp in the circle of his family and employees, 1868.

Note: The young girl in white is “family” not “employee” and her identity as Clara Bruch by the Alfred Krupp Foundation as Clara Bruch has already been debunked by British Conductor and music scholar Max Bruch who is a respected and recognized biographer of Clara Bruch’s husband, Max Bruch.

It is currently unknown to this author where Getty Images obtained this photograph, but they ascertained the date incorrectly. Englebertha appears to be approximately 10 years of age, suggesting the below photograph was taken c.1864, not 1869. The photograph further down at the bottom titled Krupp Family with friends – 1868 from the late Klaus Tenfelde’s book:  Pictures of Krupp. Photography and History in the Industrial Age was taken approximately in 1872 given that Engelbertha had already departed Essen for the City of Sigmaringen around 1873/74 with finance John Stroebele who was an employee of her father Alfred Krupp.

Illustration from 19th century.

Below: Photograph titled; Krupp Family with Friends c. 1869

My Home, Jersey City, 1970

This was my home at 544 Liberty Ave in Jersey City while I was in first and second grade in 1970-71. We moved there so my father could be closer to work at Eagle Beef on Central Ave. Humble beginnings.

Salvation Army’s Christmas Dinner, 1901 Madison Square Garden

Does anyone do this anymore? Anywhere in the world? I search my memory, but I cannot remember this occurring recently. It should. This is an amazing display of humanity.

Philanthropists Needed

Any philanthropists out there that would like to help fund a foundation named in honor of Engelbertha Krupp? The foundation would help lower homelessness and domestic abuse of women in Jersey City, NJ where my great-grandmother immigrated to. These were issues that my great-grandmother experienced. First quote for a website came in between $2,500 and $3,500. Her brother Friedrich Krupp inherited a multi-billion dollar steel firm in 1887. She did not. This will her hers, something with her name on it
