Sascha Brown Rice is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and teacher. Her Emmy-nominated documentary "California State of Mind" garnered a Grand Jury Prize for Cinematic Vision, aired on public television nationally, and streamed on Netflix. Both her documentary and her feature romantic comedy "Mango Kiss" screened internationally and won multiple honors.

Pivoting from her role as a filmmaker, Rice joined the motion picture division at Eastman Kodak where served as the Global Marketing Director. As part of the executive leadership team, Rice amplified Kodak’s visibility with innovative collaborations, strategic partnerships, and community engagement. Rice was responsible for integrating marketing initiatives on a wide array of projects ranging from commercials, music videos, and museum pieces to notable television and feature films including the blockbusters Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Batman v Superman, indie favorites The Hateful 8 and Carol, AMC’s The Walking Dead, and Academy Award-winners like La La Land. Rice expanded the iconic brand’s social media presence and created lasting impact by rebuilding the Kodak Scholarship for college students.

Rice returned to filmmaking with a focus on producing and championing underrepresented voices. Her slate of indie projects includes the short film BASURERO by Filipino-American writer/director Eileen Cabiling, the feature film Solace directed by groundbreaking filmmaker Tchaiko Omawale, and the web series Black Kungfu Chick directed by Rae Shaw.

Rice also has designed and led initiatives like The Audience Awards’ first annual Audfest Film Festival, their Women’s Film Challenge, Big Tell Film Festival, Kodak Super-8 Film Challenge, and R.O.W. (RIVER OF WINGS), a public art installation of interactive kinetic sculptures aimed to bring awareness to LA River revitalization via giant bird sculptures personalized and reimagined by local schools, community groups, and artists. In her role as consulting producer for the Central Valley’s Big Tell, Rice has mentored dozens of filmmakers and shepherded over eighty short documentaries to completion.

With over twenty-five years in the industry, Rice offers clients a wealth of practical, strategic, and creative insights. Rice provides executive coaching, media consulting, and mentors writers.

Rice is driven by a passion for making art and making a difference. As the granddaughter of California's former Governor Pat Brown, niece of former Governor Jerry Brown, and daughter of former State Treasurer Kathleen Brown, Rice is committed to carrying on her family legacy of civic engagement and serves as the interim Executive Director of the Pat Brown Institute, which is a non-partisan public policy Institute at Cal State LA. Ms. Rice received a Bachelor of Arts from Hampshire College.
