Sha Naqba Imuru
It seems we have never been alone. A more pessimistic way of looking at this is that none of our thoughts, desires, or even actions are unique. All one has to do is read history... or watch South Park where this outlook has been beautifully summarized by Dougie (Prof. Chaos's sidekcik) - 'The Simpsons already did it'.
Sha Naqba Imuru is an epic poem written in Sumeria circa 2000 B.C. It talks of a king, Gilgamesh, who went in search of immortality, only to find that the only possible way to achieve immortality within the construct of the human matrix of disease, degradation and death, was to go down in history.
Afflicted with a similar desire is maybe why I've already started to write. And I made the mistake of thinking that I was alone in this pursuit... until I read Sha Naqba Imuru.
I'm no literary critic, but I'd say that this is a book that must be read at least once in your life.
And this discussion of 'human bondage' leads us to wonder if all this is worth it, considering that merely... Carbon and Electrons are we!

How vain it is to sit down to write...
...when you have not stood up to live. - Henry David Thoreau.
Many a night has passed, since I first put pen to paper, when these words of Thoreau began to haunt me, and many more such nights have not yet come to pass. Then why, notwithstanding the risk of being branded arrogant, do I continue?
I write because my reason finds voice through letters more readily than my voice finds words to reason. The answer is not justified, but cathartic, I know. However, it is one of the few cures that I have found to treat my ailing soul which breathes with a fervent restlessness for its thoughts to last for ever. And this brings me to my next post...

Is it tooting your own horn?
I just realized that one of the reasons that I may have not started a blog was that it felt a little bit like tooting one's one horn. Maybe it's just me.

My first post
Dear readers,
I'm not your typical reclusive writer. But then again, I'm not your usual extrovert/blogger/facebooker/twitterer. However of late, I've been feeling the pressure of social media - call it peer pressure, if you will ;) and I've finally been convinced to start a blog.
Over time, I hope to make it worthwhile and enjoyable.
In the meanwhile, I hope you will forgive an unconventional recluse his indulgences, and hear what he has to say through the two books he has published:
1. The Adventure of Black Drop
2. The Hunt for the Lion: The Two Kings
