Writing Through Rejection: Welcoming July
Dear Readers,
A lot of exhaustion has crept into my life as of late. June was tiring and challenging, both personally and professionally. After four months of constant writing, my pace has begun to slow a bit. So, I am trying to be intentional with these moments of brevity, not overwhelming myself with all that could be done in the hours I’ve spent staring at a computer screen, hoping something insightful pops into my head. But that seems to be the life of a writer, or any creative, for that matter.
Moreover, as June marked a month of celebration for many, it brought a significant number of challenges for me. Since “Paris” debuted in March, I’ve dedicated more time to writing poetry and submitting it to various literary publications. Unfortunately, every poem has been rejected so far.
I am extraordinarily thankful, to be frank. Of course, I want to share as much as I can with the world (it’s certainly disappointing to see “decline” repeatedly), but this has been a valuable review of my work, challenging how I can, and should, write. It has also forced me to read more from far more talented people and to listen (the most undersold value today). So, in July, I am going to keep writing, trying new things, giving myself a break when I need it, and, most importantly, listening to what surrounds me.
I want to thank you again for reading “Paris.” It is so special to see my most personal story, as an unknown debut author, receive so much love.
As we step into month seven (my favorite), I hope you’ll also remember to give yourself grace and enjoy the summer sun with the people you love.
Warm Regards,
Veronica Tyler

Celebrating Authenticity: A Special June Message
Dear Readers,
June is officially upon us. I look forward to welcoming the sweet bliss of summer.
This month is triumphant for many reasons. On a deeply personal level, it signifies how much my story has evolved over the past year. Almost to the day, a year ago, I was in complete distress, fearing that my defective brain was finally ending my passion for writing. And yet, just a month later, I had a complete novella.
For so many others—friends, family, and romantics—this time of year poignantly reminds us of the journeys so many have taken to live authentically and love freely.
June is not just a celebration of embracing one’s true identity but also a testament to the power of love and genuine human connection. It reminds us that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and loved for who they truly are, without any conditions.
As we embrace the vibrant diversity of communities across the world, let us also reflect on the importance of extending kindness to ourselves and others, always. Each act of compassion, no matter how small, has the potential to change a life. I encourage you to reach out to those around you with tenderness and consideration. Celebrate the uniqueness that each person brings into your life.
In my debut novella, “Paris,” I hoped to share a story worthy of these values: an account of intimacy, love, fear, and the necessity of living alongside the variations of humankind, not against it.
Set against the backdrop of the Reagan era, my character Emma’s story unfolds in tandem with the reverberations of societal shortcomings. Yet, amid it all, a delicate tale emerges. This story, these words, your truths mean so much.
It has been a true privilege to share my first published work. Debuted for Women’s History Month, and available amid Pride, my goal has always been to share important stories despite the chaos of our everyday world.
This novella has, truly, changed my life. I’ve attached a small poem as a gentle thanks.
Happy June.
Warm Regards,
Veronica Tyler
Paris
When they find evidence,
they will call us
tortured poets.
Forcing us into caverns,
we chose to seek the sun,
staring like Icarus.
Warnings of danger,
they failed to describe the
euphoria
of freedom.
For only in torment,
have we been able to
find love like art.

Release Day
Dear Readers,
As "Paris" takes its first steps into the world tomorrow, I'm filled with profound gratitude, relief, and reflection. This narrative, born from the depths of introspection, amid a stint when I felt creatively disoriented, finds its voice during a significant time—Women's History Month.
Crafting a story that delves into the nuances of love, longing, and the unspoken has been an enriching journey. As a female author, sharing this narrative during March feels especially poignant. It's a celebration of the resilience, complexity, and depth of the female experience—a tribute to the stories that often go untold.
"Paris" follows Emma, as she navigates landscapes both physical and emotional, against the backdrop of European nights and the shifting tides of American political and social change. Occurring amidst the era of the Reagan presidency, Emma's story resonates alongside the echoes of societal failures. Her journey stands as a testament to the strength found in vulnerability, the courage to confront truth, and the profound impact of political and social negligence.
My earnest hope is that as we immerse ourselves in the beauty of storytelling, we also recognize the imperative of amplifying women's voices in literature. May "Paris" serve as a beacon, illuminating the richness found in diverse narratives and the timeless relevance of authentic feminine stories.
Join me in celebrating this momentous occasion, honoring the invaluable contributions of women writers everywhere.
Warm regards,
Veronica Tyler

Paris
Dear Readers,
As the release of my debut novella, "Paris," draws near, I find myself reflecting on the journey that brought this narrative to life. Crafting a story that explores the complexities of love, longing, and the haunting echoes of forbidden desire has been a profound endeavor.
After months of working on my novel, I took a pause, exhausted, and sat with my own thoughts. Feeling defeated with a tinge of writer’s block, I wondered if completing a story would ever truly come to fruition. Perhaps it was just a pastime that was trailing me through some of the most difficult months of my life. However, on a warm July morning, I woke up for the first time in ages inspired. After two days of non-stop writing, I held in my hands the first draft of “Paris.”
From the very beginning I knew what I had was simply a snippet from the life of two profoundly heartbroken characters—and I loved it. Sometimes the beauty in words is what is left unsaid, how we recover from the moments that haunt us, youth to adulthood.
In "Paris," we follow Emma's path back to the childhood landscapes that cradle her secrets. The allure of Parisian boulevards and the timeless charm of the American South set the stage for a tale that transcends time, inviting readers to navigate the tapestry of the past, where every thread intertwines with the consequences of choices made in the shadows.
As a writer, I am drawn to the exploration of human emotion—the intricate dance between passion and consequence. Through Emma's journey, I aimed to capture the essence of love, the lingering ache of longing, and the enduring power of choices that shape our lives.
Here's a glimpse into the world of "Paris":
I invite you to pre-order your Kindle copy here and mark your calendars for the paperback release on March 25. Join me on Goodreads and Amazon to delve deeper into the creative process and engage in discussions about the themes that underpin "Paris."
I am thrilled to share this journey with you and look forward to the conversations and connections that will undoubtedly arise as we collectively navigate the intricate narrative of "Paris."
Warm regards,
Veronica Tyler

Here's a glimpse into the world of "Paris":
"The cafe was dimly lit, the air thick with tobacco and strong coffee. Emma sat alone at a corner table, in a wicker chair, at the end of the corridor towards the bathrooms. Her fingers danced along the rim of the empty glass. The subtle lines in her face gave way to thirty years of experience, heartache, secrets, and frustration. Her eyes held a glimmer of hope, reflecting against the fluorescent lights of a winter night. She adjusted in her chair, tightening her fur coat closer to her waist.
She had chosen this location of refuge. It was one of the few places open late into the evening, away from noise, but close enough to taunt her loneliness. Amid the whispering conversations and clanking of tea glasses, she found solace in her own company. It was a rare break from the continuous dance of responsibilities and obligations she was beholden to”
