E.S. Luck is a copywriter by day and an author when no one is watching. She enjoys reading, writing genre-bending fiction, and extolling the virtues of grammar, much to the collective dismay of all who meet her. She owns too much makeup and lives in Ontario with her husband and their adorable dog, Rosie. The Wastelander is her debut novel.

If you'd like to receive occasional updates on my writing, including the sequel(s) to The Wastelander and free bonus material, feel free to subscribe to my newsletter (linked on my official website). You may also follow E.S. Luck on Facebook, or @e.s.luck_author on Instagram, where I share excerpts and videos, and occasionally host free book giveaways.

Hi Shannon! Thanks so much for reading!

Book 3 is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2026, and depending on length, it may or may not be split into two books (if that happens, they'll be released fairly close together). In the meantime, I have an Asha spinoff (titled Darkness I Become) that's coming in November (most likely the first week or so of the month). I'm just finalizing the details on that one before I set it up for preorders on Amazon and elsewhere, which will probably happen next week.

Check out my Instagram for the latest updates! I post often about book updates and share sneak peeks of what I'm working on, plus character art, etc. :)(less)

Thank you for your question! There are definitely more books in the series. The second book, The Outsider, is releasing on March 14, 2025. The plan at the moment is to make it a trilogy, so there will be at least one more book after that, but depending on length, we'll see if it ends up being two. :')

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy the series!(less)

"I wanted more. I loved it so much. I didn't want it to end. I will always be a big fan of Claire Kent's Post Apocalypse series, and this one was everything I was hoping. I also loved that it had the fairytale element. I really can't wait to see where" Read more of this review »

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC from the author for this book.

As a post-apocalyptic romance author myself, it's always a joy to read spicy, well-done romance in this teeny niche that we inhabit. Rebecca's books are heartbreaking, well-writte

“While we had sacrificed so much to remain the same, the Wastelanders had made a new home out of the ruins of humanity’s greatest tragedy.”
E.S. Luck, The Wastelander

“kindness is never wasted.”
E.S. Luck, The Wastelander

“Pygmalion formed an ivory maid, and longed for an informing soul. She, on the contrary, combined all the qualities of a hero's mind, and fate presented a statue in which she might enshrine them.”
Mary Wollstonecraft, Maria, or the Wrongs of Woman

“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”
Richard Dawkins, Unweaving the Rainbow: Science, Delusion and the Appetite for Wonder
