Hi I am Rachael nice to meet you. I'm the author of Sangre De Toro, a book endorsed by CAS International the anti bullfighting charity. Currently I'm working on 2 more books. One is a sequel to SDT and one is a stand alone thriller set in the corporate world.

My favourite writers are Melvin Burgess, Robert Harris, Agatha Christie, Kazuo Ishiguro, Natsuo Kirino, Gillian Flynn, Louise Candlish, Val Mcdermid, Philip Pullman and many others.

I love reading, especially dystopia, mystery and thrillers. I love nature and animals and I'm passionate about conservation. I have been told my books are too political but my views influence my work and what I like writing about, I can't help it.

With some exceptions I only read books I think I'm

It felt cathartic to write the book and depict Pepelito as a hero. I also got very frustrated by the fact that most bullfighting stories depict this activity in a romanticised way and the bull's perspective is not included. So I wanted to write a book that was based on facts and shows the bull in a sympathetic light. (less)

He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly
"fulfilling my 2019 goal to read (at least) one book each month that i bought in hardcover and put off reading long enough that it is now in paperback.

this is a slight deviation from the goal, because it was a present, not one i bought myself. the les" Read more of this review »
He Said/She Said by Erin Kelly
"He Said/She Said is a slow building psychological thriller filled with crazy characters and some surprising twists and turns.

The narrative is divided up into parts that correlate to the stages of a total eclipse of the sun.

The Estate by Isaac Bashevis Singer
"Bravo, Isaac Singer. This book is my favorite of all of his works and I seem to have read it at exactly the right time. Lots of fireworks at the end. But read "The Manor" first. "

“Animals only existed for the pleasure of humans. Humans like him.”
Rachael Adam, Sangre De Toro

“She watched the first bull, looked at the way it ran. At least someone was about to have an even worse day than she was.”
Rachael Adam

“Why couldn't they shut their mouths if they couldn't be kind?”
Rachael Adam, Sangre De Toro

“His only crime was being a bull.”
Rachael Adam, Sangre De Toro

“In the winter you could see them sitting on the benches by the war memorial. The cold couldn't touch them in those days. They drank mulled wine from thermos flasks and smoked their cigarettes hastily, as if they might warm them up. Tamara doesn't know when the cold took hold of them. They feel it much more quickly now, the whine more, and if anyone asks them why, they reply that the world is getting colder and colder. They could also answer that they'd got older, but that would be too honest, you don't say that until you're forty and you can look back. In your late twenties you go through your very private climate disaster and hope for better times.”
Zoran Drvenkar, Sorry

“She watched the first bull, looked at the way it ran. At least someone was about to have an even worse day than she was.”
Rachael Adam

“He knew how to dispatch his own bull, on his own terms; he could avoid danger once enough punishment had been inflicted.”
Rachael Adam, Sangre De Toro

“Sometimes, matadors got gored (...) Aficionados viewed their dramatic deaths like martyrdom in a holy war. Some animal rights activists also marked these gruesome occasions in their mental calendars.”
Rachael Adam, Sangre De Toro
