The idea for a new series hit me two Christmases ago. It was something different from what I\u2019ve written but still well within the wheelhouse of crime fiction. This was how Sandra Vos, a top negotiator with the FBI\u2019s Crisis Negotiation Unit, was born.\nMy publisher was curious how I would keep books in such a series fresh and addictive.
