Jonathan Wood is an Englishman in New York (albeit the state, not the city. His level of cool should probably be clearly established. This is Long Island we’re really talking about).

He is one of the legion of creative directors writing fiction. (Again, not actually a full creative director. He’s actually an Associate Creative Director, which is like a regular creative director but lesser. And also, as an additional aside, it’s pharmaceutical advertising, not the cool one with fast cars and beers. And no, he didn’t even get to do that one on TV that told you the drug might cause your spleen to detonate. He does dumb websites for doctors to ignore. He’s really not cool AT ALL).

He does like metal a lot, but he also likes loose leaf teas just a

The Cozy Cosmic by Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito
"Got this just for the R. Ostermeier story, "The Dark Young", and it is as rich and weird as I have come to expect, brief as it is."
The Cozy Cosmic by Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito
"One of the most spirited collections from madly talented writers that I've read in a long time. Light and dark, funny and sharp--The Cozy Cosmic has everything. Kevin Wetmore's "A Child’s Christmas in Innsmouth" is an instant holiday classic."
The Cozy Cosmic by Frances Lu-Pai Ippolito
"I absolutely loved how unabashedly weird some of these were, from stamp collecting that has vaster implications than you would imagine, to a missed connection escaping the void, to cooking at the end times, to adopting a cat that may or may not be a " Read more of this review »

“Better?” I cannot quite keep the incredulity out of my voice. “Yeah.” Clyde nods. “The wires stop it from stinging too bad.” “Really?” “Oh.” Clyde looks apologetic. “What?” I say. “Well...” Clyde shuffles on the spot. “Now it’s your turn.”

“Wait... we... you... you mean... we...” I spray words around the room, taking out innocent bystanders with my abrupt enthusiasm. “This is huge! This is enormous! This is like the Godzilla of breaks. It’s the sort of break that destroys large chunks of Tokyo!” I stop, take stock, try and gain perspective. Punctured lung and all that. “Who is it?” I ask, unable to stop one toe from tapping.”

“Clyde retreats into his shoulders. “Turns out we’re both a bit late on the scene, old chap,” he says. “The old guard’s gone. All the people who’ve seen what we’ve seen. They’re retired. Reassigned. No one in government comes to read the book. They don’t see the Progeny. They don’t really know. So we just rattle around in the old space. Alone and forlorn. Except, well, not forlorn, because, well, despite it all, I quite like my job.”
