Who am I? I’m just an author trying to make a living writing. My name is Anthony Murray. I write the garbage you find in those monthly mags that old, rich, women read.

But that’s not what I want to do with my life. I dream of writing a bestseller. One of those books that Hollywood producers want to grab ahold of. I want to write an Oscar winning manuscript.

Eat Me Alive

The year was 2074. According to the newspaper it is June 25th and Spike was in New New York. He was wearing torn, black jeans, a ragged black T-shirt and holey boots. His hair was a dirty blond and looked like it hadn’t been brushed in months. He couldn’t remember the last two days or how he ended up in New New York. Spike suddenly realized that he had been rubbing his neck for a while. It felt achy and there was a sharp pain at the base of his skull. Thoughts of running and being chased entered his head. He shook it off and began to look around.

The Gift

The rain was heavy that day. Large droplets fell on the windshield as the wipers frantically attempted to get rid of them. The air smelled wet and like rotting leaves.  Molly was heading down I-80 at high speed. She swerved in and out between semis and cars. The only thing on her mind was that she needed to get to the hospital on time. Her sister was about to have her first baby and Molly had to be there in time to see her brand new Nephew. On her backseat was the perfect gift for him. Molly was so excited to be able to give it to her.

Bio

Joel C. Flanagan-Grannemann has been writing since childhood, and has a B.A. in writing from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in Bradford, PA. He has lived in Columbia, SC for more than twenty years with his wife and editor, Jay-Jay Flanagan-Grannemann, and a coterie of cats. Joel has a day job in back room operations at a major national retail chain where he has worked in various capacities since 1995.

What is the most important thing to carry with you all the time?

The absolutely most important thing I carry with me all the time is my phone. I can’t live without it because my whole life is in my phone.

It’s what tells me where I’m supposed to be. It is my contact with the outside world. And it keeps me connected with family and friends.
