Happy Friday
I woke up today thinking that each second and moment adds up to something. Time is precious and fleeting. I hope we all make the best of our time and do what inspires us.

Be You!
I would love to know what kind of things people like to read. I've often wondered if people match what they read or write. I think as people we are so complex that we can't fit into just one style or catergory. When I read and write, I like to push the boundaries and not fit into one genre. I think these complexities of the human spirit are important. I embrace being different and for people to be themselves.

Pain within passion
I have found through the years that writing is painful. It’s painful to create art in general because it takes a piece of you—a living, breathing piece. It’s like peeling a layer of many other layers of wallpaper from a wall to expose something that has never been seen. Creating something one is passionate about shows the many hidden layers of the human soul. Furthermore, this is the insanity of the artist: the need for this pain. Because without this pain, there is no room for growth. I felt this pain in writing my debut novel. It was amazing to be able to share my personal heartache with the world through my book, after so many years of silence, but it also hurt because I was reliving the pain. I think this pain breathes life into a book; it gives a grain of something that is real and relatable.

A poem for those who miss the old days
I Feel My Spirit Here
A body of wind dances with the trees as its partner.
Leaves of autumn move and flicker like a soul on fire.
The mountains bow their heads down to see a sleepy town from below.
I feel my spirit here.
It moves like paint with a flick of a brush.
It ticks like a second that passes with the pulse of a clock.
A piercing breeze slices through your flesh like a knife.
The change in the season shifts like a compass that also changes a face with age.
The snow collects on the ground like memories underneath becoming buried.
It glisters like a clear stone.
As it melts it reveals all that has never changed within your heart even through the years of change.
I feel my spirit here in this time of reminiscing.
The past has not fully dissolved into the atmosphere.
It still can be seen as the seasons pass.
I can feel my spirit here.

What inspired me
Hi, my name is April Hofmann! I’m new to goodreads. I’m an author of my first psychological thriller with elements of horror and mystery. This has been a long journey, and it’s far from over. I want to get to meet others that love to write or read. I love seeing what others are reading or have written. My book, Evaporates As Frail Lace, was inspired by Stephen King’s book Carrie because of the tragedy and the layers that were built within the character. I was also inspired by the band Pink Floyd. I’ve always been attracted to stories that drift into the eerie while still maintaining elements of reality. There are things that keep us connected as people, and I love to write such things while adding the supernatural. I would love to know what inspires others to write and read.

Here on this blog, I want to talk about the things that make the skin crawl. However, I like to add a little more. I love thinking of the complexities of life and people. Not one person or situation is the same. I also want to talk about on here about the things that inspire the soul to live.
