Actually I have 3 books in process. They are a mixed lot--a mystery, a historical novel and a sci-fi novel. I include a little mystery in every book I write, including the children's books. I like my readers to ask questions as they read and turn the pages looking forward to discovering the answers. My Star-Fighter trilogy was sci/fantasy for kids. As far as the historical novel is concerned, I've always liked history and like to create a vivid and accurate (as possible) representation of a world in the past.(less)

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

I checked it out and discovered that Saint Francis was one o…moreI learned, via my agent, that a publisher was looking for an author to write a biography. I checked it out and discovered that Saint Francis was one of the proposed subjects. I had become very interested in Francis back when I was in college. I read everything I could find on him--which is substantial--and became further intrigued. I was a physics and mathematics major at the time and had no reason to pursue his story further. Now, however, I had the chance. I started with the most ancient documents and then amended those revelations with the findings of the succession of authors who had studied the life of the saint down through the centuries. Each of these added details to the portrait of Francis. I was especially interested in recreating, as much as possible, the world in which he lived--the church, the society, the economy, the crusades, etc.--to give a more thorough context to his experiences and discoveries.(less)
