Excerpt One:
Anyone who walks through this place on a Friday night that I dont know is just passing through. Believe meI know everyone in this town. I have lived here almost all my life. So when something like that walks through the crappy bar doors, I notice. Hell, every damn woman here notices.
Whats the difference between me and the rest of the women that now swoon over Mr. Hottie-pants who leans casually against the bar? I know damn well that I dont have a chance in hell. Girls like me? Were meant for the background. Meant to fade into it and go without notice.
I continue on with my job like any other nighta night where some Adonis doesnt ooze sex appeal that wafts around like a pheromone-filled cologne. I sneak a peek at him while I bring the zillionth tray to my disorderly customers and he catches me. Shit, hes hot.
I grab the final glass to fill the small drink tray in my hand (again). My table is a rowdy bunch of college morons and to say theyre drunk is a gross understatement. Theyre so drunk that they begin to worry me. After this round Ill have to send Danny over to cut them off. I dont get paid enough to do that shit.
Hey a voice slurs as an audible slap sounds. He. Did. Not. Yephe did! This guy seriously just grabbed my ass. Put the pitcher here. He laughs at his own drunken rudeness.
I know that I shouldnt do anything, but I cant really stop myself. Im sorry. I say sweetly. Where did you want this pitcher? The fucker points to the table in front of him with a smile on his facea smile that quickly changes to a look of shock when I proceed to pour the entire contents of the pitcher over his head.
You bitch! The guy screams and flips the table as he stands with more speed than someone as drunk as him should.
Uh-oh. Seethis is why Im not supposed to do this. Danny (aka my boss/bar owner/bouncer) is busy across the bar. The drunken beer-covered fool in front of me is hella-pissed and towers over me. Whoops!
You think thats enough to give me pause, make me back down or shut the fuck up? Nope, not me. See, that makes sense and Im not a fan of that at all. Im sorry! I say brashly. I assumed when you grabbed my ass you wanted to wear your beer.
The man raises his hand high above him and I know what comes next. I dont flinch thoughinstead I stand my ground. The group of friends behind him splits. Half of them try to calm him while the other half eggs him on. Maybe a second before the drunken assholes fist crashes into me an even larger more impressive hand shoots out from behind me. I expect to see Danny behind me so Im quite speechless when I see the gorgeous piece of man from the bar instead.
~Jordan
Excerpt 2:
I turn on the light in the kitchen and see something on the counter. I tear open the envelope and what I find brings me to my knees. A hole punches through my chest and I cant breathe.
She left. J. Left.
She even leaves her cell phone and keys. What the fuck am I going to do?
J gets in more trouble than anyone I ever met and I worry about her safety, but something scares me even more. What if J really doesnt want me anymore?
It cant be that. I refuse to accept that from a note. If J wants this over I need to hear it from her directly.

Too Many Choices!
Do you ever get overwhelmed by too many choices??? I do.
For example: Taking out the indie publisher option and sticking to self publishing is an easy choice for me. I enjoy having full control. I don’t have to compromise my work and I’m able to keep my pricesfair for my readers. Win/win–easy-peasy.
Then wtf am I stressing over you ask? The overwhelming choices for self-publishing.
Do you publish on all outlets or sign your book away exclusively to Amazon for anywhere from three months to five years? Amazon may make it worth my while, but what about my non-Kindle readers. What about the people who read through B&N, Kobo or iTunes? How beneficial can something really be if it limits your market???
When I began self-publishing in 2011 there were far less options. There was also far less reach–but in a way it was a simpler time.
The trade is beyond fair for the indie world as a whole. There are more way to do everything you can imagine than ever before. Today’s indie author’s a lucky enough to be part of a major movement that’s changing the face of publishing as the world knows it. It’s pretty damn epic and I for one am honored to be part of it.
I don’t know which publishing options are the best choice for every indie author, but I do know what is the best choice for ME. I can’t validate not making my work available to ALL my readers, therefore I will continue to publish on ALL eBook outlets I can and not exclusively to Amazon. I love my Kindle readers to pieces too and will (of course) continue to publish on Kindle too.
What it boils down to is this: My view of success is a bit different than others. My success is not measured in monetary value–rather in value of happiness and self-worth. Writing makes me happy. Finding and reaching readers who enjoy what I write makes me even happier. Less money, but more satisfaction seems likea damn fine trade to me

Campanelli: Sentinel by Frederick Crook
Blurb
It is 2110 and migration to the colony planet, Alethea, has depleted Earth of billions of people. As a result, migration has been declared illegal by all world governments. Human trafficking becomes highly profitable for organized crime and their influence reaches beyond the Earths atmosphere. Many starships returning from Alethea are diverted from the scrapping process and secretly refurbished, allowing the population to shrink further.
Frank Campanelli is a blind Chicago Police detective who depends on his fully functional bio-electronic implants to see and do his job. After assisting on a botched infiltration of a top human trafficking network, he and his partner, Marcus Williams, are transferred into the CPDs Organized Crime Division to head the newly formed Sentinel group and bring down the Ignatola family business.
Excerpt
Frank took manual control of the car and set its alert status to Condition Two. The cars computer sent out its signal to traffic lights and other computerized vehicles, clearing the way for them. The blue lights flashed and the siren whooped and warbled to warn pedestrians and non-computerized vehicles of their presence.
Campanelli adjusted his lenses to zoom in just enough that he saw the leading edge of his vehicles hood and beyond. This gave him advanced warning of upcoming pavement hazards. He kept his thought commands on visual adjustments, putting them back to default when the car was in traffic and zooming forward again once the road was clear ahead. Franks full-service lenses had an advantage over the standard bio-electronic breed. His fully encompassed the surface of the eyes to give him the benefit of peripheral vision. When he magnified his view, it was not merely like looking through binoculars, it was akin to being physically thrust forward a few feet, albeit with some distortion at the edges of his field of view. With this advantage, Frank Campanelli had the reputation of being a rather insane driver, but from his point of view, he simply saw more detail than others and drove to match.
As it was Saturday morning, the traffic was light. As a result, Frank could get the car up to eighty miles an hour at times, broken up by sudden slowing and lane changing to avoid a vehicle or road hazard. This unsettled Marcus Williams to no end, forcing the veteran to increase his serotonin levels as he held on to the door handle and center console while plastering his feet into the floorboards.
The engine whined and whistled with acceleration, alternating with the crying of rubber whenever the brakes were hit hard or the steering yoke was twitched to go around something.
Marcus was just glad they were not in pursuit, otherwise Frank would be in a real hurry.
Campanelli slowed at the corner of State and Madison and hung a tight left. The powerful car accelerated like a shot, but the siren went quiet. Marcus dared to open his eyes and saw that the road ahead was deserted of pedestrians, cars and potholes.
The siren sounded again as they approached the intersection at Dearborn. Dodging around a CTA bus, Frank made the turn and accelerated again, though only briefly as they were close to their destination.
Suddenly, the siren quieted and the motor wound down to its near-silent normalcy. Marcus opened his eyes in time to see the blue lights cycle one last time before going out. The light at West Washington Street still turned green for them, indicating that Frank had set the car to Condition Four: No lights, no sirens, just an officer in kind of a hurry, as it had been explained to him once by someone he could not remember.

Authors Bio
Frederick was born in Chicago in 1970 and now lives in Villa Park with his wife, Rae and their three miniature dachshunds. He began by writing fictional works all through high school, earned an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Electronics in 1994 and the Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from DeVry University in 2005.
In 2009, Frederick began writing his first novel, The Dregs of Exodus, which was self-published in late 2010. This was followed up with another novel, The Pirates of Exodus in 2012.
Throughout that year and early 2013, he continued writing and published four short stories in eBook form for Kindle and Nook. All of these stories share the same premise, but all are independent from one another, though the short eBook, Campanelli: The Ping Tom Affair and his third novel, issued by Solstice Publishing, Campanelli: Sentinel, share the same main characters.
He loves writing and enjoys meeting and talking to readers at book signing events.

Do You Play Well with Others?
August 28, 2014
Which Way To Go…
Sometimes you have to make some tough choices…I’m not talking characters or plots, though there’re plenty of those. I’m talking about moving forward.
The thing is that I’ve been doing indie publishing for a few years now. I enjoy it. I do things my way. I’ve learned a butt-load and applied it. I’m in a good place. #DPWWO had a great release and is doing well. I hope to wrap up my two trilogies this winter and have some other projects I’m excited about too.
The opportunity to sign and lighten my work load to free up more time for creativeness? It sounds awesome, right? I just don’t know if I’m there yet. I don’t want to lose control…
I can take a shot in the dark but what am I really going to gain? I can accept a kind of big deal but my biggest concern is the price of my ebooks going haywire. I don’t want my readers to pay more.
I guess it’s safe to say I’m still up in the air about it…and it’ll probably take a whole lot of convincing.
