Free Book Week! The Bestiary For Business free on Amazon starting Sept. 23, 2013

The Bestiary For Business will be offered for FREE from Amazon in ebook format starting this Monday, September 23rd.  You can acquire it on your Kindle here: http://bit.ly/bestiarybiz

The BESTIARY FOR BUSINESS is a collection of fables that look at current
economic conditions in an irreverent way.

Today, many of us are subjected to a flow of unpleasant news from Wall Street and the fianancial markets. And all of us are in business in one way or another:
we are the captives, participants, cheer leanders, anti-heroes, or the economically injured people in a national and global game. If one listens carefully, one will hear that much of the fun and fairness has gone from economic activities. So if these fifty fables produce some smiles or even relief from annoyance, that would be great.

It was a wonderful surprise when BESTIARY FOR BUSINESS
hit the KINDLE TOP 100 FREE bestseller list on March 30th 2013
in three categories: it was # 1 in SATIRE, # 1 in ECONOMIC
CONDITIONS, and # 26 in BUSINESS & INVESTING.

The neighborhood made me happy too:  in the TOP 100 PAID
column next to the FREE one were names and titles
from Kurt Vonnegut and Joseph Heller.

I have been living, breathing, experiencing this little book.
It is not long or wordy. Instead, I hope it is concentrated
and potent. One of the customer reviewers, a complete stranger,
was able to slip into my mind and understand perfectly well what
this is all about. That’s amazing, and deeply satisfying.

The Annual Office Outing - from "Bestiary For Business"

The Annual Office Outing

A wolf that had been careless enough to swallow a bone at the
merry company picnic went about looking for a creature to relieve
him of it. Mingling with the rank and file he met a heron and
made a deal with him. The bird would remove the bone and the wolf
would grant him a favor in return.

Fearlessly, the heron put his long beak and his entire head between
the wolf’s sharp teeth and down his throat. Then he was able to pull
out the bone.

Not wanting to seem too eager, the heron waited for a few days
before visiting the wolf in his fancy corner office. After the exchange
of some pleasant small talk, he said to the wolf: “I am ready for the
promotion you promised me.” The wolf displayed a toothy grin and
answered: “Is it your habit to take silly things said during social gatherings
at face value? You should be content, my friend, with having gotten
your head safe and sound out of the wolf’s mouth. That’s a privilege! I
would not advise you to demand a reward as well.”

It is dangerous to be sincere,
Unless you are also stupid.

Reviews for "Bestiary For Business" by Erika Schelby

Pages packed with wit and wisdom…Erika Schelby serves up a series of short stories that paint a philosophical, funny, and at times caustic portrait of the business community….An entertaining read that contains some eyes-openers, food for thought, and plenty of good reasons to chuckle….
Ibiza Actual Magazine, Spain, (English + Spanish)

Bestiary for Business is a collection of thought and fables trying to bring a bit of morality back into the modern business game. Using a cast of animals with human characteristics, Erika Schelby hopes to advance politics to the point where it can be human once more….A fine read with a message that is too far forgotten….
Cowper’s Bookshelf, Midwest Book Review

I loved this witty and funny creation….

Thought-provoking….After having spent years in the corporate world
I wish I would have had this little gem to help guide me.

How to embed Tumblr on your website and customize it

adrifolio:

Tumbler couldn’t make it easy to embed your blog to your website. Have in mind that what you can bring to your website is the “homepage” of your blog, the posting themselves will stay in tumblr (unless you display them entirely on it). Also you will be only able to do this is you have access to the html files in your site.

THE BELT TIGHTENING

The chairman of the wolves had established a policy stipulating that each of them should accept a number of cut-backs in perquisites, bonuses, and salaries for the good of their troubled firm; so that they should not be driven by the hunger of retrenchment to tear at each other’s throat.

But one of the mules working under the management of the wolves came forward, and skaking his gray mane, addressed the chairman as follows:

”Out of the mind of the wolf has come a noble thought. It is wise to set a good example. It gives us mules a reason to put up with wage and benefit cuts, and even with layoffs. But how is it, Mr. Wolf, that you yourself laid up in your den the fat quarry you got hold of recently? Put it in the company piggy bank where it belongs.”

This exposure shamed the wolf into annulling the belt-tightening policy for wolves in general, and into designing a just-in-case severance package for himself in particular. It was the most beautiful and sublime golden parachute ever engineered by beast or man.

                                                     ***

This plain distinction, Sir, no doubt secures,

‘Tis not true reason I despise, but yours.

  — John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester

Sir, are you so grossly ignorant of human nature

as not to know that a man maybe very sincere

in good principles without having good practice?

  — Samuel Johnson
