Why I wrote Nezami & the Nonproliferation
Before there was Romeo and Juliet, there was Khosrow and Shirin—a sweeping Persian love story that captured my heart long before I ever put pen to page. Nezami Ganjavi’s poetry has lived in me for as long as I can remember, not just as beautiful verse but as a pulse—something ancient yet alive. Writing Nezami and the Nonproliferation was my way of honoring my enduring Persian legacy.
This novel wasn’t born overnight. It grew out of a deep admiration for stories that blend truth and myth, urgency and beauty. As an author and a global citizen, I’ve long been fascinated by history, politics, and culture intersect. My travels through Germany left an impression. Nuremberg, a city carrying the weight of justice and judgment, and Bavaria’s enchanting Neuschwanstein Castle--so beautiful became more than just settings. They became symbols of truth-seeking, historical upheaval, and stories locked behind stone walls.
At the heart of this story are Gabriel and Noor. Their journey isn’t just physical—it’s deeply emotional. As they race against time to unravel a global threat, they also confront who they are and who they are willing to become. Their transformation is what made writing this novel so personal. Through danger and deception, it is ultimately love—for truth, for justice, and for each other—that carries them forward.
But Nezami and the Nonproliferation is about more than espionage and ancient poetry. It’s about culture—specifically Persian culture, which has endured censorship, suppression, and distortion for over forty years. And yet, despite everything, it endures. You cannot erase poetry. You cannot silence the soul of a people. Across time and across borders, Persian art, literature, and spirit remain defiantly alive.
This book is my tribute to that resilience. A reminder that stories matter. That culture lives on in those brave enough to protect it—and those willing to pass it on.

But this novel is more than a thriller. It’s a tribute to Persian culture—resilient, poetic, and impossible to silence. It’s a reminder that stories endure. That poetry lives. And that across centuries and borders, the soul of a people can still be heard—if we choose to listen.
