Rian Adara is a multi-genre author who has a deep love of morally gray (or black) characters, writing with a hint (or a lot) of darkness, and varying levels of spice. She enjoys destroying her readers with her words and riling them up at the same time. And may or may not derive joy from creeping them out, too.

I don't usually pull my ideas from dreams because they're usually nonsensical, illogical, non-linear, and a big ol' mess. But this...it was so vivid, so visceral, so coherent that when I woke up the scene stuck with me and I just *had* to write it. And A THING DIVINE was born. 😈(less)

Writing is a craft. It takes time and work to develop and hone into something you, and others, like to read. So many people get frustrated when they're not good right out of the gate, but next to no one is. And even when they are, they still need editing. For many, getting to where you want to go with your writing takes time. Don't set goals you have no control over. Like my goal to be traditionally published by the time I was thirty. So many factors in reaching that goal were out of my control that it was never a viable goal to begin with. I just didn't know it at the time. Now I'm 41, my first published book about to drop in a couple weeks, and I couldn't be happier. I'm glad it's A THING DIVINE. It's taken me a long time to get here, to understand this is who I am as a writer. This is what I write as a writer. This is what I'm good at writing as a writer. You only find that by experimenting, failing, experimenting, failing, experimenting and finally, finally succeeding. Keep going. If you want it enough, you'll get there. Just keep your mind open to all the opportunities that could come your way that you never thought to consider.(less)

The second book in the Souls trilogy, I like how Laroux tilts the camera angle during the course of the larger plot unfolding, this time giving us Juniper and Zane and their rough and gruff personalities. With a heavier focus on the romance and overc ...more

DYSTOPIAN DREAMS is a good way to dip your toe into the waters of four different authors and explore the worlds they've created. Anthologies are always good for this, and I found myself intrigued by Ingleby's Expendables world. I look forward to read ...more

While the story shifted to a plot that's more character-driven as Vick and Kelly worked through their relationship, we still get the tenuous dynamic between the two as Vick continues to struggle with her humanity. It certainly doesn't help that an en ...more

A mind-warp of a novel, I haven't read too much cosmic horror, but EYE OF THE OUROBOROS certainly got my attention! The subtle play with alternate timelines and alternate entire worlds had my head spinning. The rip in the fabric that caused things no ...more
