Hashtag Entrepreneur

What’s the business,

The design on deck is “Hashtag Entrepreneur”, which is simple and straight forward. It is for those that use social media to promote products, promote a brand, advertise affiliate links, or share information about being an entrepreneur. If you went to Twitter right now and searched with #entrepreneur, it would display all the latest and greatest content produced by individuals as well as companies.

So if you are an aspiring or established entrepreneur, you should own this shirt. When you wear it a few things might happen. Some people will jump on their favorite social media platform and search #entrepreneur to see if they are missing out on a trend. People may see your shirt and become curious about being an entrepreneur. Lastly, other entrepreneurs may feel you are relatable due the shared struggles associated with entrepreneurship. So create some biznotes, tweets, pins, or whatever you use to share on social media, hashtag entrepreneur it, throw your shirt and let social media universe take care of the rest.

Business As Usual,

Jay

The Consumpreneur

What’s the business,

One of the first member tiers created for OVBE was the “Consumpreneur.” The Consumpreneur was modeled after the bargain shopper. Think of a person you know that uses coupons all the time, shops for the buy one get one free deals, or always finds sales. Read the Consumpreneur blog on OVBE to get a better understanding of how that member tier is important to OVBE.

The focus of the Consumpreneur design was the name itself, and a one-liner that captured what it was about. So I came up with Consumpreneur, #OVBE, followed by, “The Art Of Spending.” In my opinion, everything associated with being a bargain shopper has to do with the mentality of a consumer that has or attempting to master spending efficiently. It takes skill to be an entrepreneur, but it also takes skill to buy more with less. If consumers are not spending, then entrepreneurs can’t be successful. So if the shoe fits, get a shirt, and continue to get the most out of your dollar OVBE Style.

Business As Usual,

Jay

O-V-BE Pronunciation

What’s the business,

The design on deck is “O-V-BE.” This design was created after being asked what OVBE stood for while I was out and about. Many of my initial designs emphasized the letters OVBE, and I just assumed people would go research what it was about. People would ask what it meant, how do you say it, and what the concept of OVBE was about.

Then just like that, the O-V-BE design was born. A design that answered how to say OVBE and what it means. A simple solution that satisfies the curious. When I wear the shirt, it’s cool to see people actually read the shirt. A few people even say they like the shirt. So when you wear this design out in public, be prepared to observe people staring at your chest. However, your stares may be due to your hard work on the bench press, not just from people reading what OVBE means. Whatever floats your boat, just smile, nod your head and say, “Don’t Dream It, OVBE It!”

Business As Usual,

Jay

The OVBE Nation design

What’s the business,

I appreciate your purchase if you have made one. If you have not, what are you waiting for? Be a part of a growing collective that embraces the challenge of being an entrepreneur. My goal is to create attractive and meaningful designs. Not many people would bare a design on their chest and not understand what it represents. Let my explanation satisfy your curiosity and may you feel welcome to be a part of the OVBE Nation. If you don’t know what OVBE means, visit www.ovbe.club and click away.

The design on deck is “OVBE Nation.” This design was created with a couple of ideas in mind. The major focus was to put emphasis on OVBE and togetherness. It’s a very simple design. At the top of the design sits the name of the only social network for entrepreneurs, “OVBE.” Then there are the gold bars split by “EST. MMXIV”, which means established 2014, the year that OVBE was created. Next, we have the word, “Nation”, which provides a sense of togetherness. Members of OVBE are not just bodies to be advertised to, they are people with families as well as aspirations, and are go-getters that are attempting to create their own opportunities. One member’s success is the success of all the members, even though there is no profit sharing. 🙂 Positive vibes, words of encouragement, sharing knowledge, and helping others achieve their goals is satisfying in ways I cannot explain.

So if you see someone wearing an OVBE Nation shirt, you can probably guess they are an entrepreneur, embrace the ideals of entrepreneurship, have an entrepreneur in their family, a member of OVBE, or used to be an entrepreneur.

If  you see me out and about shout out a, “Don’t Dream It”, and I will finish it with an “OVBE It.” If you don’t know what that is visit www.ovbe.club, right now!

Business As Usual,

Jay

OVBE Style

Welcome,

First and foremost thank you for finding your way to OVBE Style. OVBE Style is an extension of a social network for entrepreneurs called OVBE @www.ovbe.club. I am Jay, the founder of OVBE and the lead designer for everything you see on OVBE Style. My goal is to design clothing that emphasizes the principals of OVBE and entrepreneurship. I think everyone should experience being an entrepreneur at some point in their life, and many of us just need a little inspiration.

I hope my designs bring out your inner entrepreneur or enhance the entrepreneur you already are. Either way, thank you for your visit and/or purchase and feel free to join OVBE if you have not already.

Business As Usual,

Jay

October 2013 Flash Contest Winners

Hi folks,

It’s time to announce the winners for our October contest. I’ve had some time to think, and to change my mind several times over. Nothing new here, haha. I loved every single story selected for posting, and choosing the winner was pretty difficult this month.

So, let’s get to it, then :)

1. The overall winner ($55) — for the best story in Austin’s opinion — is “Pragmatic” by Michael Seese. It’s a tense, dramatic and pretty brutal story told with laconic mastery.

2. The most shared story ($33 each)… traditionally, this prize goes to Salvatore who out-shares everyone else by a wide margin. Of course he did it again, and I’m grateful to him for spreading the word. But I thought that this time, I can recognize two stories in this category: both the top one and the runner-up :) So, we have two winners:

Stop me by Salvatore Buttaci. This story, of course, is truly powerful in its own right.

For my Broken Heart by Rebecca Barray. It’s a wonderful story that blends sadness and hope, and I believe it thoroughly deserves all the positive and supportive comments it got.

3. Most helpful commenter ($33). This was, probably, the most active month in terms of comments yet. As always, I’ve read every single one, and as always I’ve been torn. I believe Diana Feltner more than deserves the prize for her frequent, insightful and supportive comments to the other authors.

Congrats to the winners :) I’ll wire you the prize cash via Paypal over the next few days.

Now… I have two more points to make. One is optimistic, and one’s rather not.

FIRST, I’m looking for a kind person who could go back through the entire history of the contest entries and select the best ones for publication in an almanac. We’re talking about 681 stories out of which we should probably select a fair amount, maybe 200-300 truly good ones which we could publish in 2-3 books.

I’ll happily compensate you for your time. If you’d like to take part, could you please get in touch using the contact form down in the footer, and let me know how much you’d charge for this? :) Maybe we can agree.

SECOND, after much thinking, I’ve decided to put the contest on hold for now.

It’s a difficult decision to make after meeting so many wonderful, talented and supportive authors here and investing countless pleasant hours and quite a few thousand dollars into running the contest, which I consider money very well spent.

My reason is simple: I’m burnt out.

I can no longer run it with any quality on top of the long hours in my day job, writing books in the evenings (I’m now juggling 4 active series) and having a family.

On average, it takes me 30 minutes to publish one story — after pre-selection, proof-reading, commenting, and corresponding with the author if edits are required. Also, not all stories come with images, and image search takes a looong time :)

So there we go. I’ve come to love the interaction with you, wonderful authors, the daily inspiration of reading your powerful and beautiful stories, and the anticipation of what gems of writing could end up in my inbox in the morning.

Also, I know I can make the contest way, way bigger, if only I have the time. But I can’t afford the time. Maybe later when I can transition to full-time writing which is my dream, I’ll reopen the contest again.

Thank you, and best of luck in your writing endeavors. I’m sending you all my goodwill vibes :)

The Cafe In the Village

It wasn’t December, rather, a grim October haunted by a relentless early chill. Dipping my hat, I hurried across the cobbled street. Opening the door, I delighted in the glow of table candles and the low hum of conversations. The place was charming and oblivious to the danger.

Our eyes met and the shooting began.

Timeless Vigil

He would return, he promised, striding up to the road that warm autumn afternoon. Each footstep pulled at her reluctant heart.

Now, one-hundred-fifty years to the day, as October’s sun casts dark shadows, the yellowed lace wafts gently as her ephemeral face appears at the upstairs window.

Buried Secrets

She walked through the trees, pushing the leaves with the toes of her new boots. The sound reminded her of his hand sliding along the sheet when he swept the bedding to the floor. What a mad weekend that had been. Their last weekend together. His last weekend, period.

She knelt to bury the knife.

Leaf Dance

Miranda watched a maple key twirl down, shimmering against the bruise-coloured sky. A handful of yellow leaves danced out of a tree and frolicked ahead of her on the path. She twirled in delight. A great gust of wind brought leaves raining down with an angry rattle. Miranda ran back to take her father’s hand.
