“These Memories Can’t Wait” is a memoir of sorts, about the music I loved and where it took me.

From first crush to second-year university to burgeoning adulthood, it’s a look at the years when music meant everything and pop songs coloured every defining moment.

The music didn’t just speak to me. It often spoke for me. That made for a complex relationship.

There are three ways to enter to win a free...

These Memories Can’t Wait: Growing Up With Music

Music is an interior journey. It will deliver you beyond Mom. Beyond dinner and muddy sneakers and your-father-will-be-home-any-minute to a place where authority is deflected with a knowing smirk and a toss of blond curls. You will live in a different world, the one you hear when the records play. You can’t explain how or what it will look like. But you know you’ll get there.

That’s from These Memories Can’t Wait, my “Fierce Short” now available for download from Fierce Ink Press.

It’s a sho...

NHL Trade Rumor-by-Number

Jarome Iginla

The folks who generate NHL trade rumors get full marks for volume.

But creativity is sadly lacking.

You hardly ever see a real trade rumor anymore.

Red Wings versus Blue Jackets

The NHL has shuffled the deck.

Matthew Byrne and Friends In Concert

matthew byrne.jpgThough he emerged just a couple of years ago, Matthew Byrne ranksas one of the finest singers in contemporary Newfoundland folk music. Born
into a family of music makers from Placentia Bay his repertoire is
heavily influenced by this unique singing tradition. It is a tradition
that thrives on the song - the weaving of a great story with a beautiful
melody - and Matthew's music reminds us how satisfying traditional
songs can be when stripped down to these basic elements.

Can the 2013 Blackhawks Challenge the ’79-’80 Flyers? The NHL Says No.

Blackhawks Celebrate Goal

In hockey, as in any sport, a team can go on a winning streak or a losing streak.
