“Then why have you been talking about her for the past half hour straight?" His friend glanced over at him, a cheeky grin on his face, and the rockstar glared exaggeratedly.

"I have not."

"You definitely have. I missed an entire episode of Cupcake Wars because you've got a crush.”
Andrea D. Smith, Love Factor

“Apparently our portmanteau is trending on Twitter." He let out a self-deprecating laugh. "I didn't even know what a portmanteau was before Jukebox Hero. It's a mashup of our names, like Brangelina or Robsten. No idea what ours is -- what do our names make?" He considered this a for a moment before shaking his head.

"It's probably awful," he decided. "Could be worse, though; I hear the portmanteau for the main characters in The Hunger Games is... well, their names are Peeta and Katniss. I'll let you guys figure that one out on your own.”
Andrea D. Smith, Love Factor

“She half suspected that he had had been ordered by contract to look mouth-watering at all times. If he hadn't, it was really rude of him to persist in it. It was distracting.”
Andrea D. Smith, Love Factor

“Panicky despair is an underrated element of writing.”
Dave Barry

“It starts with this: put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn't in the middle of the room. Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around.”
Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

“He'll die first, we both know it, but I don't know... I really don't know how long I'll stay alive without him. That's the part Shaun doesn't know. I don't intend to be an only child for long.”
Mira Grant, Feed

“Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.”
Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass

“All I could think of when I got a look at the place from the outside was what fun it would be to stand out there and watch it burn down.”
Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House
